Guilin is one of the most beautiful cities in China. It lies by the banks of the Lijiang River.
Guilin has many places of interest, such as Reed Flute Caves(芦笛岩) , Elephant Trunk Hill(象鼻山), the Seven Star Park(七星公园)as well as the Lijiang River. Usually it takes you two days to enjoy the views of the Guilin City. The first day is for your Guilin City one-day tour; the second day is for your cruising(乘船巡游)on the Lijiang River.
If you have more time in Guilin，you can make trips to Lipu and Longsheng. Lipu County is about 100 km to the south of Guilin. La Gomera is the only place in the world which has a whistle(口哨)language. We do not know how and why it began because we do not know the long history of the island. There are many deep valleys(峡谷)on the island. A person on one side of a valley cannot easily shout to a person on the other side. But he can whistle and make others hear him. The people living on the island usually have good teeth，and this helps them whistle well. They must also have good ears so that they can hear other whistlers.
We can understand why the whistle language continues. It is very useful on the island，and quite easy to learn. When somebody is hurt or ill，the whistle language takes the place of the telephone. If the sick person is quite far away from the town, people pass the message from one to another. A boy guarding cattle(放牛)on a hillside whistles to a man fishing on his boat. Once a bird lived unhappily. So it travelled far away to look for its happiness.
