1. Analysis of the Students
The students of Grade5 have mastered certain vocabularies, expressions and structures. They also have the abilities of working in groups. Most of them are willing to express their opinions in English as well as act the dialogue out.
2. Analysis of Teaching Content
Lesson 2 is the second lesson in Unit 1, Book 9.This unit focus on the subject A Trip to Beijing, Lesson 2 mainly talks about something on the phone, this lesson is talk by Jenny and Danny’s family to go to Beijing. And say some words talking on the phone, meanwhile improve the students’ actual fun_ction of talking on the phone.

Step 1. Warm-up
Greeting：
T: Hello，everyone. How are you?
Ss: Fine, thank you. And you?
T: I`m fine , thanks. Nice to see you again.
Ss: Glad to see you again.
Sing the song: musical trip.
Review: Review the sentence “May I ... ... ” according to the pictures.
Step 2. Presentation
Lead in: Show the picture of two people talking on the phone.
T: What are they doing?
Ss: They are talking on the phone.
T: Do you know how to say on the phone?
Ss: ... ... .
Teacher summary the knowledge talk on the phone.
Practice in groups.
Read the conversation and answer the questions:
Where are Jenny and Danny?
When does Mrs. Li leave for Beijing?
When does Mrs. Li arrive in Beijing?
Check the answers.
Explain the meaning of “leave for” and “arrive in”.
Read the conversation:
Follow to the tape.
Follow to the teacher.
Read by themselves.
Read in groups.
Step 3. Practice
Finish “Let’s play”.
Teacher show the picture of Jenny’s mother and Danny’s mother.
T: Look at the picture, who are they?
Ss: They are Jenny’s mother and Danny’s mother.
T: What are they talking about? Talk in groups.
Practice in groups.
Show time.
Finish “Let’s do it!”
Make the sentences.
Teacher show the pictures and time, let students make the sentences.

Choose two groups show the dialogue.
Step 5. Summary
Today we have learned the new words: invite, hello, son, wonderful, leave, arrive, hooray. And the sentences pattern “When...?”meanwhile the sentences something talking on the phone “May I speak to...? and “This is ...”.
Step 6. Homework
Read the conversation three times and make the dialogue with their partners.
