Lesson 3 is the third lesson in Unit 1, Book 9.This unit focus on the subject A Trip to Beijing, Lesson 3 mainly talks about how we get to some place, and talk about some traffic tools, meanwhile improve the students’ actual fun_ction of traveling.

Step 1. Warm-up
Greeting:
T: Hello,everyone. How are you?
Ss: Fine, thank you. And you?
T: I`m fine , thanks. Nice to see you again.
Ss: Glad to see you again.
Sing the song: musical trip.
Step 2. Presentation and practice
Lead in: Show a picture of travel tools.
T: Look at the picture, these are traffic tools, how do you go to school?
Ss: I go to school by... .
T: Do you know how can we get to Beijing?
Ss: ... ... .
Learn the words.
Teacher show the pictures to learn them:
Show the picture of plane, and describe it: This is a plane, a plane is fast.
Then show the picture of bus, and describe it : This is a bus, a bus is slow.
At last show the picture of train, and describe it: This is a train, many people like to travel by train.
Read the words in the sentences.
Write the words down twice.
Ask and answer: Show the pictures of some cities.
T: Look at the pictures, how can we get to Beijing?
Ss: Let’s go to Beijing By train.
T: How can we get to Shanghai?
Ss: Let’s go to Shanghai by plain.
Learn the words to ask the distance: Teacher show the map of the China, and ask students.
T: Look at the picture, what’s this?
Ss: It’s a map of China.
T: How far is it from Shijiazhuang to Beijing?
Ss: It is 278 kilometres.
Read and write the word kilometres.
Practice in groups:
T: How about from Guangzhou to Shanghai?
Report.
Step 3. Consolidation
Finish “Let’s go by train”.
Read the conversation about Li Ming and his mother.
T: How about Li Ming and his mother? How can they get to Beijing? Read the conversation.
Circle the phrases in the conversation.
