教材分析(教材结构、内容、地位)
The topic of Book 6 Unit 3 is closely related with students’ actual life and they have some background knowledge about it. The reading passage is an advising letter. In the letter, James’ grandad advised James to quit smoking. With some common skills, students can easily understand the passage because it has very clear structure. But the teacher should help students to connect it with what they have learned in Book 2 Unit 2 Healthy Eating and help them accumulate new words and expressions.

1. Get students to accumulate some knowledge about smoking, including its causes, effects and ways to quit it.
2. Get students to grasp important new words and expressions.

2. Students can learn to do a poster.

1. Students understand the bad effects of smoking and keep way from it.
2. Students can share ideas and help each other in English learning.

Ask students to glance through the text and find out the answers.
