Period One Warming up
Teaching aims:
1.enable Ss to talk something about parks.
2. get Ss to match the names of the parks with the pictures.
Teaching important points:
Get Ss to know which pictures are theme parks.

warn the students up by some pictures.
ask the students to think about the two questions.
get the students to match the names of the parks with the pictures.
Step III. Speaking task
After matching the names of the parks with the pictures, the students try to guess which are parks and which are theme parks?
Period Two Reading
Teaching aims:
Get the students to know some famous theme parks—Disneyland, Dollywood and Camelot Park and the attractions of these theme parks through this passage.

Get some knowledge of some famous theme parks.

Step 1. Warming up.
Warm the students up by ask them to tell the differences between parks and theme parks.
Step 2. Pre-reading.
Ask the students to discuss a question about theme parks.
What do you think a theme park is?
What you might do in a theme park.
Step 3. Reading.
Skimming
Ask the students to skim the text and check their ideas and get the meaning of the
title.
Scanning
Ask the students to scan the text and choose the correct answer in the book.
Comprehension
Ask the students to read the text paragraph by paragraph, and get some detail information.
Students find out the information to fill in the table of the three famous theme parks.
Students find out information to decide if the statements are true or false.
Step 4. discussions:
What is the purpose of Dollywood? What kind of people do you think will visit this theme park ?
What do you know about ancient English stories? What other activities do you imagine there are at Camelot Park?
Disneyland is a place to have fun. What will you do if you have a chance to visit Disneyland?
If you have a chance to visit one of these three parks, which will you visit? Why ?
Period Three Learning about language
Teaching aims:
1. Learn some words and phrases in the reading passage.
2. Enable the Ss to use some useful structure.
3. Learn about word formation .
Teaching important points:
Enable the students to mater some useful words and phrases.
Teaching difficult points:
How to use word formation correctly.
Teaching procedures:
Step I. Learn about some language points in the passage:
be famous for “因……而出名”,表示出事物的特征或人物的特长
Columbus is famous for his discovery of America.
be famous as“作为……而出名”,所接名词作主语的同位语
Luxun is famous as a writer.
be famous to “为谁所知” 表示某个地方或某个范围的人都知道
Disneyland is famous to people all over the world.
2.Whichever and whatever you like, there is a theme park for you.
whatever = no matter what
whichever = no matter which
wherever = no matter where
whenever = no matter when
however = no matter how
“疑问词+ever”既可以引导名词性从句,还可以引导状语从句,而”no matter+疑问词”只能引导状语从句.
Whatever / No matter what happens, don’t be surprised.
Take whatever magazines you want to read.
3. be familiar with (某人) 熟悉,通晓,精通(某事)
I am familiar with some theme parks now.
be familiar to (某事) 被(某人)熟悉的
These tales are familiar to Chinese children.
4. come true 后面不能接宾语,没有被动语态
realize 是及物动词, 后接名词作宾语,一般用被动语态.
Our dream came true. = Our dream was realized.
5. …no wonder tourism is increacing wherever…
No wonder / It is no wonder 难怪, 怪不得
No wonder you’ve got a headache. You drank too much last night.
6. one of + n (pl.) 此结构单独作主语,谓语动词用单数.
one of + n (pl.) 其定语从句谓语动词用复数.若one前the或 the only修饰谓语动词用单数
One of the students has ever been to Disneyland.
He is one of the students who have ever been to Disneyland.
He is the only one students who has ever been to Disneyland.
7. celebrate 表示 “庆祝, 祝贺”之意,其宾语是事。 如: 节日,胜利,结婚纪念,生日等。
congratulate指对人进行祝贺,表达就某事向某人祝贺时要在“某事”前加上on或upon.
How do you celebrate Christmas?
I congratulate you on your success.
[拓展] in celebration of = for the celebration of “为了祝贺… 为了庆祝…”
8. take care of [vt.] (1) 照料… ;注意…
Take care of you health.
(2) 负责…;处理…
Step II . Word study
1. Ask the students to find the words and phrases from the previous pages of this unit fill in the blanks of exercise 1 on Page 36.
2. Ask the Ss to fill in the blanks of exercise 2 on Page 36 with the correct form of the eight words listed below:

3. Ask the Ss to complete the paragraph on Page 36 with the proper forms of the words below.

Step III. Discovery useful structures—word formation
Find out the compound nouns in the reading passage .
Combine the words from the first two colunms to make compound words in the third column.
Find and underline the prefixes or suffixes in the words and write out the original words.
Fill in the table with the different forms of the words.

Get to know the information of listening materials.
Teaching procedures:
Step I Listening
1. Try to answer questions: What do you know about their cultures?
What are they famous for?
2. Listen to the tape and fill in the table with the information that Ricky, Lucy and the
guide talk about.
Listen to the cassette again and answer the questions?
Why did Ricky and Lucy come China ?
What is the purpose of the Folk Culture Villages?
What two things is Ricky interested in doing?
What is Lucy most interested in doing ?
What things does the guide think are the most important to see?
Step II Reading
Ss read the passage as fast as they can and then answer the questions.
What are three times and three places you can visit at Futuroscope?

Step III Speaking and writing

Plan your introduction like the one on P38.
Begin to write the introduction.
