Period three Listening and Vocabulary; Grammar(1);Reading and Vocabulary (2)
Step 1.
Ask every two Ss to do Activity1 in Listening and Vocabulary and then let the whole class listen to the tape. Then let the students recall the words in the sentences from the box.
Now let every two Ss finish Activity 2 and ask the Ss to finish Activity 3 in groups.
Listen to the discussion again and let the Ss introduce the main idea about the discussion in the listening part.
Step 2.
Ask every two Ss to finish Activity1 in Grammar (1), and then let them exchange their answers each other and discuss them.
Ask every two Ss to ask and answer according to the answers in Activity1: The underlined phrases in Activity1 are a way of emphasizing that something is our belief, etc. This time ask the Ss to think of at least five sentences like this kind. When they do the exercises they should use the words like idea, belief, feeling, opinion, suggestion, guess, etc.
For example:
S1: What do you feel about the weather tomorrow?
S2: My feeling is that it will get better tomorrow.
S1: What do you suggest we should do to study English well?
S2: My suggestion is that we should practice it every day.

Ask every two Ss to finish Activity 2 and then check them with the whole class.
Step 3.
Explain predicative clauses to the whole class according Activities 3 and 4.
Predicative clauses are lead by that, adverb and what.
For example:
The reason I love to go to school is that out school life is interesting.
The question is whether she will be back tomorrow.
Mutual understanding is what students need most.
Step 4.
Discuss the club in your own school between students and teacher.
For example:
What are you interested to do your spare time?
Does our school have spare-time clubs?
Do you go to school clubs?
Which clubs do you like best?

Now ask every two Ss to read the text, pictures and their slogans and answer the questions in Activity1 of the Reading and Vocabulary(2).
Ask every two Ss to read through the nine questions in Activity1, and then mainly answer the tenth question.
This time ask the Ss to finish the questions in Activity2 in groups.
Finally, let every two Ss create their slogans freely.
For example:
For Fashion Club: It’s not only a fashion. It’s a love of life.
For Running Club: Does running attract you? Come if yes.
