二、完形填空(共20小题;每小题1.5分,满分30分)
I
was
walking
down
the
road
one
day
when
my
cell
phone
rang.
21
voice
on
the
other
end
spoke
to
me,
“Dad,
please
come
back
soon.
I
miss
you
so
much.”
I
judged
that
it
was
a
22
number.
A
little
while
later,
the
call
came
once
again,
so
I
rudely
23
,
“You’ve
dialed
the
wrong
number!

and
then
24
.
During
the
following
days,
I
got
the
same
call
25
.
But
I
didn’t
care
much
about
it.
Then
one
day
she
constantly
called
me,
26
I
didn’t
answer.
Finally
I
answered
the
phone
and
heard
a
weak
voice,
“Dad,
please
come
back.
I
miss
you
so
much!
Dad,
I’m
in
so
much
pain!
Mom
said
you
were
too
27
to
take
care
of
me.
But,
dad,
please
28
me
again,
OK ”
The
innocent
(天真无邪的)
request
was
difficult
to
29
.
I
made
a
30
kiss
on
the
phone
and
heard
the
weak
31
say,
“Thank
you…Dad,
I
am
so

happy,
so
…happy
…”
Shortly
after
this,
I
became
32
about
who
had
been
on
the
other
end
of
my
phone.
So
I
called
33
,
and
a
woman
answered,
“Sorry,
sir.
I
am
really
sorry
to
have
bothered
you.
My
daughter
has
34
from
bone
cancer
35
she
was
born.
And
her
father…
36
in
an
accident
a
short
while
ago.
I
dare
not
tell
her
this
sad
news.
Poor
baby!
When
she
couldn’t
bear
the
painful
chemotherapy
(化疗),
she
would
cry
for
her
dad,
who
had
always
37
her.
I
really
couldn’t
bear
it,
so
I
gave
her
a
random
38
number
…”
“How
is
your
daughter
now ”
I
couldn’t
wait
to
39
.
“She
has
40
.
You
must
have
kissed
her
on
the
phone,
because
she
went
with
a
smile,
tightly
holding
the
cell
phone
…”

Would
it
surprise
you
to
learn
that,
like
animals,
trees
communicate
with
each
other
and
pass
on
their
wealth
to
the
next
generation
UBC
Professor
Simard
explains
how
trees
are
much
more
complex
than
most
of
us
ever
imagined
.Although
Charles
Darwin
thought
that
trees
are
competing
for
survival
of
the
fittest,
Simard
shows
just
how
wrong
he
was.
In
fact,
the
opposite
is
true:
trees
survive
through
their
co-operation
and
support,
passing
around
necessary
nutrition
“depending
on
who
needs
it”.
Nitrogen(氮)
and
carbon
are
shared
through
miles
of
underground
fungi(真菌)
networks,
making
sure
that
all
trees
in
the
forest
ecological
system
give
and
receive
just
the
right
amount
to
keep
them
all
healthy.
This
hidden
system
works
in
a
very
similar
way
to
the
networks
of
neurons(神经元)in
our
brains,
and
when
one
tree
is
destroyed,
it
affects
all.
Simard
talks
about
“mother
trees”,
usually
the
largest
and
oldest
plants
on
which
all
other
trees
depend
.She
explains
how
dying
trees
pass
on
the
wealth
to
the
next
generation,
transporting
important
minerals
to
young
trees
so
they
may
continue
to
grow
.When
humans
cut
down
“mother
trees”
with
no
awareness
of
these
highly
complex
“tree
societies”
or
the
networks
on
which
they
feed,
we
are
reducing
the
chances
of
survival
for
the
entire
forest.
“We
didn't
take
any
notice
of
it
.”
Simard
says
sadly
.“Dying
trees
move
nutrition
into
the
young
trees
before
dying,
but
we
never
give
them
chance.”
If
we
could
get
across
the
message
to
the
forestry
industry,
we
could
make
a
huge
difference
towards
our
environmental
protection
efforts
for
the
future.
44.The
underlined
sentence
“the
opposite
is
true”
in
Paragraph
2
probably
means
that
trees______.
A.compete
for
survival
B.protect
their
own
wealth
C.depend
on
each
other
D.provide
support
for
dying
trees
45.“Mother
trees”
are
extremely
important
because
they______.
A.look
the
largest
in
size
in
the
forest
B.pass
on
nutrition
to
young
trees
C.seem
more
likely
to
be
cut
down
by
humans
D.know
more
about
the
complex“tree
societies”
46.The
underlined
word
“it”
in
the
last
paragraph
refers
to______.
A.how
“tree
societies”
work
B.how
trees
grow
old
C.how
forestry
industry
develops
D.how
young
trees
survive
47.What
would
be
the
best
title
for
the
passage
A.Old
Trees
Communicate
Like
Humans
B.Young
Trees
Are
In
Need
Of
Protection
C.Trees
Are
More
Complex
Than
You
Think
D.Trees
Contribute
To
Our
Society
C
Your
house
may
have
an
effect
on
your
figure.
Experts
say
the
way
you
design
your
home
could
play
a
role
in
whether
you
pack
on
the
pounds
or
keep
them
off.You
can
make
your
environment
work
for
you
instead
of
against
you.Here
are
some
ways
to
turn
your
home
into
part
of
your
diet
plan.
Open
the
curtains
and
turn
up
the
lights.
Dark
environments
are
more
likely
to
encourage
overeating,
for
people
are
often
less
self-conscious(难为情)
when
they’re
in
poorly
lit
places

and
so
more
likely
to
eat
lots
of
food.
If
your
home
doesn’t
have
enough
window
light,
get
more
lamps
and
flood
the
place
with
brightness.
Mind
the
colors.
Research
suggests
warm
colors
fuel
our
appetites.
In
one
study,
people
who
ate
meals
in
a
blue
room
consumed
33
percent
less
than
those
in
a
yellow
or
red
room.Warm
colors
like
yellow
make
food
appear
more
appetizing,while
cold
colors
make
us
feel
less
hungry.
So
when
it’s
time
to
repaint,
go
blue.
Don’t
forget
the
clock

or
the
radio.
People
who
eat
slowly
tend
to
consume
about
70
fewer
calories(卡路里)per
meal
than
those
who
rush
through
their
meals.
Begin
keeping
track
of
the
time,
and
try
to
make
dinner
last
at
least
30
minutes.
And
while
you’re
at
it,
actually
sit
down
to
eat.
If
you
need
some
help
slowing
down,
turn
on
relaxing
music.
It
makes
you
less
likely
to
rush
through
a
meal.
Downsize
the
dishes.
Big
serving
bowls
and
plates
can
easily
make
us
fat.
We
eat
about
22
percent
more
when
using
a
12-inch
plate
instead
of
a
10-inch
plate.When
we
choose
a
large
spoon
over
a
smaller
one,
total
intake(摄入)
jumps
by
14
percent.
And
we’ll
pour
about
30
percent
more
liquid
into
a
short,
wide
glass
than
a
tall
skinny
glass.

When
the
dog
named
Judy
spotted
the
first
sheep
in
her
life,
she
did
what
comes
naturally.
The
four-year-old
dog
set
off
racing
after
the
sheep
across
several
fields
and,
being
a
city
animal,
lost
both
her
sheep
and
her
sense
of
direction.
Then
she
ran
along
the
edge
of
cliff(
悬崖)
and
fell
100
feet,
bouncing
off
a
rock
into
the
sea.
Her
owner
Mike
Holden
panicked
and
celled
the
coastguard
of
Cornwall,
who
turned
up
in
seconds.
Six
volunteers
slid
down
the
cliff
with
the
help
of
a
rope
but
gave
up
all
hope
of
finding
her
alive
after
a
90-minute
search.
Three
days
later,
a
hurricane
hit
the
coast
near
Cornwall.
Mr.
Holden
returned
home
from
his
holiday
upset
and
convinced
his
pet
was
dead.
He
comforted
himself
with
the
thought
she
had
died
in
the
most
beautiful
part
of
the
country.
For
the
next
two
weeks,
the
Holdens
were
heartbroken.
Then,
one
day,
the
phone
rang
and
Steve
Tregear,
the
coastguard
of
Cornwall,
asked
Holder
if
he
would
like
his
dog
bark.
A
birdwatcher,
armed
with
a
telescope,
found
the
pet

One

version
Nowadays,
with
the
development
of
the
Internet,
there
has
come
a
kind
of
language
called
Web
Language.
Recently,
our
class
has
held
a
discussion
on
whether
it’s
good
for
students
to
use
Web
Language
in
writing
compositions
or
communication.
40%
of
the
students
are
not
in
favor
of
the
idea
of
using
Web
Language,
thinking
it
ridiculous
to
see
or
hear
words
which
are
not
commonly
used
in
our
daily
life.
Worse
still,
it’s
hard
for
them
to
make
themselves
understood.
In
their
opinion,
it
is
against
Chinese
grammar
rules
,
and
it’s
not
beneficial
to
students’
studies.
However,
the
rest
of
the
students
are
fond
of
it.
They
think
what
they
say
will
sound
humorous,
which
makes
the
language
more
lively.
Moreover,
it
is
of
special
help
for
them
to
express
themselves
freely.
In
my
opinion,
it
is
a
phenomenon
worth
thinking
about.
I
don’t
think
it
good
to
use
Web
Language.
It
may
be
fashionable
as
some
think,
but
you
may
also
make
your
idea
confusing,
leaving
other
people
at
a
loss.
