Pre-task preparation:
(1) T: Where do we live?
Ss: We live in Shanghai.
T: Great! Shanghai is an international city in China. It’s very famous. You can see many people from other countries living in Shanghai. Today we will learn Unit 3: Friends from other countries.
(2) Ask the students about some names of other countries in English
While-task procedure:

(1) Look at the flag and learn:

(2) Look at the flags and review the name of the country and the people from that country

2. Look and read
(1) Play the cassette. The students listen quietly and learn two new words: crowded, example
(2) Listen and select individual students to read sentence each.
(3) Ask questions about the text:

b. How many people live in Garden City?
c. Are they all Chinese?
d. How many people from Canada are there in Garden City?
e. Where are the foreigners in Garden City from?
3. Ask and answer:
