1. Teaching analysis:
本课选自新世纪教材7A Unit3Going on a holiday的第三课时Introducing Shanghai, 课型为听说课。本篇文章话题为城市的介绍,内容贴近生活、新鲜有趣。前两个课时与本节课有关联的知识点有:旅游景点专有名词、交通方式、表示面积的数字、modern等形容地方的形容词。本课在原有基础上更进一步,不仅增加了新的景点名称、数字、交通方式的词汇,还引导同学们有条理地介绍一个地方、学会提问。
设定的学情为教师所教的复旦五浦汇实验学校的学生,他们基础较好、喜欢表现自己。但是,部分同学在提问能力和条理性两方面还需加强,听说方面“说”比较积极,但“聆听”的意识比较薄弱。因此,在课前预习中铺垫条理;在课堂主题环节学习提问与回答;在最后的产出环节设计了明晰的“听”时的任务。让同学们有条理地、清楚地介绍一个地方,会让他们成为更好的文化推广者;让同学们带着关键问题去猜想、去记录,会让他们成为更好的倾听者。
总之,通过提问、聆听技能的训练,希望引导同学们成为更好的跨文化交流者、学习者。

By the end of the class, students are expected to:
1) understand the new words and expressions, such us Shanghai Oriental Pearl TV Tower, area, population, public transport, light rail, etc.
2) know how to ask and answer questions about location, area, population, transport and tourist attractions to know more about a city.
3) grasp the main ideas and key information through listening.

8. Pair work: suppose you are overseas
students attending this study trip together with Li Hui and Mary in London. Take turns to ask and answer questions and complete the table.
9. Report and guess:
Volunteers: Describe their desk mate's city to the whole class. DO NOT tell their
classmates the name of the city. TELL them location, area, population, transport and tourist attractions.
All the other students: Listen carefully and take notes for answering following questions:
- Which is the city? How do you know that? -Which city has the largest/ smallest population?
- Which city has the largest/ smallest area?
10. Finish the checklist
To involve Ss into the situation and guide them to use the sentence patterns to ask and answer questions in the context.
To practice listening for main ideas and key information while others are introducing cities.
