Harry Potter
“Harry Potter” is a famous book among the teenagers. The beautiful writer, J. K. Rowling wrote the first book in 1997.
Harry Potter is an eleven-year-old English boy. His parents died when he was a little baby. From then on, he lived with his horrible aunt, uncle and cousin. He had a hard life, and he didn’t have a birthday party for eleven years.
But on his eleventh birthday, an owl sent him a letter. He began to learn about his true past. His father was a wizard. His mother was a witch. He himself is a wizard, too.
The letter also invited him to go to a school for wizards and witches. So he took a train to the school.
Harry found magic in everything in the school. He played new games and learned new lessons. He made friends and enemies there.
One day some people tried to steal something important from the school. Together with his friends, Harry managed to save the school.

2. Being able to describe the story of Harry Potter.
3. Being able to trigger the interest of reading and develop the good habit of English reading.

Most students will be able to describe the story of Harry Potter by using a mind map.
Teaching Procedures:
I. Pre-reading
1. Leading in
Show a short video about Harry Potter.
Aim: To arouse students’ interest and lead in the topic quickly.
II. While-reading
1. Skimming for general comprehension
Offer students a reading material with a word bank, let them read it by themselves and then make choices.
Aim: To grasp a general idea of the passage.
2. Scanning for detailed comprehension
1) Help draw a mind map according to the time—Harry’s eleventh birthday.
2) Present some questions about the passage and ask students to answer them in complete sentences.
3) Test students’ understanding.
Aim: To get fully understood of the passage, step by step.
3. Listening and reading
Aim: To pay some attention to the reading habit—imitation.
