Over years of experience and studying social skills, I discovered that it’s possible to make friends without even trying. Here are some strategies(策略) for you.
*Be seen without trying to get attention
You don’t have to say anything interesting to get people’s attention. All you have to do is to place yourself in environments where people can see you. This can be done anywhere you go, such as the supermarket or your yoga studio.*Use the power of listening
When you listen to other people, they’ll keep talking. Just keep giving them good eye contact and show with your body language that you care. Listening can help to build trust and likes.
*Always have 3 good stories to tell others
When you have at least a few stories to share with others, you’ll never run out of things to talk about. *Smile like there’s no tomorrow
It may not be natural for us to smile, but a smile is one of the most attractive things that someone can display when they’re meeting new people.

There is an old saying, “Friends are God’s way of taking care of us. ” But how do you find real friendship and keep it? Different people have different ideas. Some famous writers write many books which give us a lot of advice, such as Sally Seaman, the American writer. He tells young students some smart ways to find friends. Sally says finding friendship is just like planting a tree. You plant the seed and take care of it to make it grow. First, you should choose a friend. What makes a good friend? It is not because a person has money or good looks. A good friend should be kind and patient. For example, if you have a bad day, a good friend should listen to your complaints and do his or her best to offer help. To make a friend, you cannot be too shy. You should make each other happy and share your lives. But things cannot always be happy. Even the best friends have scraps . What should you do when you have a scrap with your friend? You have to talk to him or her. When there is no one around, have an honest talk. If he or she doesn’t want to talk, you could write a letter.
There are three steps to be friends again: Tell him or her how you are feeling; say what your friends has done wrong and explain why you did this or that. Remember that friendship is the most important thing in your life. ( )1. Sally wants to tell students the ways to_____.

Your house may have an effect on the the shape of your body. Experts say the way you design(设计)your home could play a role in whether you put on the pounds or keep them off. You can make your environment work for you instead of against you. Here are some ways to change your home into part of your diet plan. Open the curtains(窗帘)and turn up the lights. Dark environments are more likely to encourage overeating, for people are often less awkward(尴尬的) when they’re in poorly lit places—and so more likely to eat lots of food. If your home doesn’t have enough window light, get more lights and flood the place with brightness. Mind the colors. Research suggests warm colors make us eat more. In one study, people who ate meals in a blue room consumed(消化)33 percent less than those in a yellow or red room. Warm colors like yellow make food appear more appetizing , while cold colors make us feel less hungry. So when it’s time to repaint, go blue. Don’t forget the clock—or the radio. People who eat slowly seem to consume about 70 fewer calories(卡路里)per meal than those who rush through their meals. Begin paying attention to the time, and try to make dinner last at least 30 minutes. And while you’re at it, actually sit down to eat. If you need some help slowing down, turn on relaxing music. It makes you less likely to rush through a meal. Downsize the dishes . Big serving bowls and plates can easily make us fat. We eat about 22 percent more when using a 12-inch plate instead of a 10-inch plate. When we choose a large spoon over a smaller one, total intake(摄取量)jumps by 14 percent. And we’ll pour about 30 percent more liquid(液体)into a short, wide glass than a tall, skinny glass. ( )16. The passage is especially helpful for those who care about _____.

Our words carry huge weight. They may influence people for years, and even for a lifetime. They provide them with courage to go on or one more reason to give up. When I was fourteen, my family moved to another city. Junior high was always a difficult time for me, and the move made my ninth-grade year even harder. I remember walking into the dining hall for the first time. The other kids had good friends with them, but I didn’t know anyone. I felt lonely and went to the nearest seat after getting some food. The kids beside me looked at me up and down and then laughed. I could feel my face turning red at that moment. Then one of the kids broke the ice. “Man!You have one BIG nose!”I felt hurt and didn’t know what to say. I wanted to cry. But I managed a little smile—as if it didn’t hurt me at all. But it did. From then on, I would often look at myself in the mirror. I studied the big nose closely. It seemed that I was just living for my nose. Thankfully, I grew out of this influence finally. But it really took me twenty years. There is another thing that is kept deep in my mind. I remember going through a terrible business failure. I lost everything. I called my dad for help and he told me a lot about how to deal with the failure. What he said gave me a lot of courage and confidence(信心)to go on with my business. She said, “As long as you show interest in it and work hard, I am sure you can do a good job. ”Her words touched my heart and gave me lots of confidence to face any difficulties.
