教材分析
根据《英语课程标准》（2011年版）的分级标准，初一学生应达到三级标准：对英语学习表现出积极性和初步的自信心；能就熟悉的话题进行简单的交流；能利用所给提示简单描述一件事情；能读懂简单的故事和短文；能意识到语言交际中存在文化差异。
本课是北师大版《初中英语》七年级上册教(第 1单元的第 2课,话题为描述人物的身份、 外貌及喜好。
本课的教学设计分为两个课时。第一课时侧重对课文的理解，提取文章的主要信息和描述人物的细节信息。在整理信息的过程中，引导学生关注段落中关键词在回答问题中的指导作用和描述人物的三个方面，最后结合课文的信息和语言进行输出性活动。在第一课时，学生要根据图片学习描述人物外貌的词汇，并初步尝试用所学词汇从三个方面描述和介绍人物。
第二课时在复习课文内容的基础上，巩固本课的重点词汇，同时引入本课语法项目---冠词
学情分析
1.自然情况
本次授课对象为初一4班，这个班级的学生人数40人，学生语言能力参差不齐，有少数学生英语基础不错，大部分学生整体基础有待提高，还有少数学生语言基础较差，其中一个女体育生连汉字都写不全，有个女生汉语口齿不清。班级学生大部分愿意学习英语，少数几个同学非常愿意表达。
2.已有基础
话题方面，学生已经学过Get Ready C Your Family 部分，学习了aunt, brother, dad, grandma/grandmother, grandpa/grandfather, sister, uncle, nice, kind, love riding bikes 等词汇和短语。在语言技能方面，能表达“某人是从事什么工作”。
3.存在不足
首先，学生在对亲属的称谓上有所模糊，其次，学生在单词的拼读和识记上，仍有很大困难。 4. 解决措施
首先，普及中西方文化称谓时共同点和不同点。比方说英美国家中的cousin, your cousin is the child of your uncle or aunt. 堂兄弟姐妹，表兄弟姐妹; 然而，汉语则是伯伯叔叔家的孩子是堂兄堂弟堂姐堂妹，姑姑家的孩子则是表兄表弟表姐表弟，有不同的称谓。
其次，自然拼读法（Phonics）也称原音拼合法。具体来说就是通过学习英语 26 个字母及其组合在单词中的发音规则，让学生建立字母与发音之间的联系，能够“见其形，知其音；听其音，知其形。”采用这一种做法，既符合课标的五级语音知识分级标准的第四项内容，即根据读音规则和音标拼读单词，又更能符合顺义二中初一学生的英语学习基础，大部分同学基础薄弱，单词认读和记忆是英语学习的最大拦路虎，能否解决这一问题是提高成绩的关键所在。
教学目标
本课结束时，学生们能够:
1.辨认并初步运用strong, short, pretty, young 等形容外貌的词汇，描述人物的外貌特征。 2.运用关键词，获取文章的主要信息，匹配文段和图片。
3.通过阅读，获取文段中人物身份、外貌和喜好的细节信息。
4.使用获取的信息和语言，描述和介绍自己的家人或同学。

Ss read the four descriptions the third time and complete the table about “ who are they ? what do they look like? “what do they like” Ss discuss their answers with their partners by asking and answering questions with the given sentence structures.
