(1)“be of+名词”结构中的名词是抽象名词时, “of+名词”相当于其名词所对应的形容词, 说明被修饰的词具有某种特征或属性。常用的抽象名词有:use, importance, help, value, benefit等。这些名词前还可以有一些形容词, 如great, little, some, any, much等来修饰, 以说明其程度。(2)“be of+名词”结构中的名词表示种类、数量、度量或表示不同的人或物的共同特征时, 名词前通常带有冠词, 常用的这类名词有:age, colour, kind, type, shape, price, size, height, width, depth, length等。
