W: I’m twenty-one, and I’m a junior at a university in Chicago.
M: How are you paying for your college education?
W: My expenses for every semester are almost $15,000. At the start of each semester my parents pay the $10,000 tuition. I also get $2,000 from my college. I have to earn the rest myself.
M: How do you do that?
W: I have a part-time job at a hotel. I work about twenty hours a week and earn $400. After taxes, I make about $320.

The Silver Renault behind Us
Last Sunday, we ate at a roadside café. It was very crowded, so we shared a table with a few other tourists. When we left the café, Julie found that she had left our hire-car keys on the table and went back in to fetch them. Outside in the car park, we couldn’t remember which car was ours, so we pressed the remote control on the key and listened for the sound of doors unlocking. We got in the car and drove for almost two hours. I was reading the map and didn’t notice that there was a silver Renault behind us. Finally Julie said, “I think we’re being followed, Ben. They’ve been behind us since we stopped for lunch.”
Julie started turning this way and that, trying to lose them, until finally the Renault was no longer behind us. However, by this time, we were completely lost.
“We’d better stop and ask for directions,” I said, so we pulled up at a bar. At that moment, I saw another car pull up behind ours. It was the silver Renault! I noticed for the first time that our rental car was the same model. The door opened, and a man got out. He was holding up some car keys. They were the same as ours. “You took the wrong keys at lunch time,” he said.
