Tom
could
hardly
wait
for
morning.
Snow
was
falling
quickly.
By
morning
he
expected
that
there
would
be
enough
snow
to
make
a
great
snowman.
Tom
had
never
made
a
snowman
before.
He
had
just
moved
to
Indiana
from
Alabama,
where
it
hardly
ever
snowed.
The
next
morning,
Tom's
mother
shook
him
gently.
“No
school
today,”
she
said.
“There
is
too
much
snow
for
the
school
bus
to
go
through.”
Tom
let
out
a
loud
cry.
He
jumped
out
of
bed
and
pulled
on
his
snow
clothes.
Tom's
friends,
Herb
and
Addie,
were
already
outside.
“Hey,
Tom!”
called
Addie.
“We
are
going
to
Warwick
Hill
in
a
little
while.
Do
you
want
to
come ”
''No,
not
now,''
Tom
answered.
“I'm
going
to
make
a
snowman.”
Herb
shook
his
head.
“It's
not
snowman
snow.
It's
too
dry
and
soft.”
Herb
pushed
his
gloves
into
the
snow
and
picked
some
up.
He
blew
on
the
snow
and
it
flew
away
like
dust.
Tom
looked
down
at
the
ground.
Snow
was
snow,
he'd
always
thought.
How
was
he
supposed
to
know
there
were
different
kinds
“What
kind
of
snow
is
this ”
He
asked.
''It's
sledding(滑雪橇)
snow!”
laughed
Addie.
“That's
why
we
are
going
to
Warwick
hill.
All
the
kids
will
be
there,
and
you
should
come,
too.”
Addie
held
a
sled
out
to
Tom
and
said,
“You
can
use
this.
We
have
got
two
more.”
Tom
took
the
sled
and
smiled.
After
all,
he
had
never
been
sledding
before.

the

27. We

snows
in
Alabama
B. there
are
different
kinds
of
snow

is
good
at
making
a
snowman
D. Tom
often
goes
sledding
with
his
friend.
C
Lions
are
difficult
to
live
with.
Just
ask
the
residents
of
Kitengela,
a
rural
county
on
the
outskirts
of
Kenya's
capital
city
Nairobi.
Earlier
this
week,
lions
killed
eight
of
their
goats.
Feeling
extremely
angry
at
the
losses,
they
killed
the
lions.
Six
lions,
including
two
young
baby
lions,
were
killed
by
angry
farmers
who
felt
they
had
no
choice.
What
happened
at
Kitengela
is
happening
across
Africa.
Its
human
population
--
currently
a
billion
people,
and
growing
faster
than
any
other
continent's
--
must
have
land
for
agriculture
and
farm
animals.
When
lions
find
themselves
knocking
against
people
and
their
cattle,
strife
is
certain.
Lions
need
large
animals
to
survive
and
raise
babies,
so
where
people
replace
zebras(斑马)
and
wildebeest(角马)
with
cattle
and
sheep,
it
is
only
a
matter
of
time
until
results
of
dead
farm
animals.
Followed
very
rapidly
by
dead
lions.
Given
a
choice,
lions
generally
keep
away
from
humans
and
their
animals
because
people
are
dangerous.
But
as
lions
become
surrounded
by
humanity
into
less
and
less
living
space,
their
options
are
running
out.
The
lions
killed
in
Kitengela
this
week
would
not
have
ended
up
there
if
there
was
available
space
somewhere
without
people.
There
wasn't,
they
had
few
alternatives.
The
question
is
whether
people
do.
You
only
have
to
look
a
few
hours
south
of
Nairobi
to
see
the
answer.
There,
the
Maasai
of
southern
Kenya's
Amboseli
ecosystem
have
shown
how
to
live
with
lions.
Called
Lion
Guardians,
the
community's
young
men
devote
themselves
to
preventing
conflict(冲突)
with
lions.
They
track(跟踪)
lions
so
that
farmers
to
avoid
them,
they
provide
free
labor
to
strengthen
the
fences
and
find
farm
animals
that
have
gone
missing.
The
Lion
Guardians
program
is
one
of
the
most
promising(有前途的)
answers
I've
seen
in
over
20
years
of
working
on
lions
in
Africa.
With
its
Kenyan-based
founders,
Wildlife
Guardians
and
Living
With
Lions,
my
organization
Panthera
is
now
working
to
introduce
the
model
into
other
high-conflict
zones
across
Africa.
A
few
Lion
Guardians
employed
in
the
community
might
have
helped
in
Kitengela
this
week.
Although
the
lion

is
never
easy,
the
Lion
Guardian
model
and
other
similarly
new
ideas
give
us
reasons
to
hope.

A.
It
is
dangerous.
B.
It
is

It

A
new
study
has
shown
that
people
who
regularly
eat
oranges
are
less
likely
to
develop
macular
degeneration
(黄斑变性)
than
people
who
do
not
eat
oranges.
Researchers
at
the
Westmead
Institute
interviewed
more
than
2,
000
Australian
adults
aged
over
50
and
followed
them
over
a
15-year
period.
The
research
showed
that
people
who
ate
at
least
one
serving
of
oranges
every
day
had
more
than
a
60%
reduced
risk
of
developing
late
macular
degeneration
15
years
later.
Even
eating
an
orange
once
a
week
seems
to
offer
significant
benefits.
Lead
researcher
associate
professor
Gopinath
said,

The
data
shows
that
flavonoids
(类黄酮)
found
in
oranges
appear
to
have
a
big
role
to
play
in
reducing
the
chance
of
macular
degeneration.
Flavonoids
can
be
found
in
almost
all
fruits
and
vegetables
and
they
are
useful
in
reducing
inflammation
(炎症)
and
stress
within
the
body
”,
“We
examined
common
foods
that
contain
flavonoids
such
as
tea,
apples,
red
wine.
Significantly,
the
data
did
not
show
a
relationship
between
other
food
sources
protecting
the
eyes
against
the
disease.”
she
said.
Gopinath
said
that
until
now
most
research
has
focused
on
the
effects
of
common
nutrients
such
as
vitamins
C,
E
and
A
on
the
eyes.
“Our
research
is
different
because
we
focused
on
the
relationship
between
flavonoids
and
macular
degeneration.”
Macular
degeneration
is
the
name
given
to
a
group
of
eye
diseases
that
cause
progressive
loss
of
central
sight.
It
is
the
leading
cause
of
blindness
in
Australia
and
affects
about
one
in
seven
people
over
the
age
of
50.
There
is
currently
no
cure
for
the
disease.
“Our
research
aims
to
understand
why
eye
diseases
occur,
as
well
as
the
genetic
and
environmental
conditions
that
may
do
harm
to
eyesight,”
Gopinath
concluded.
32.How
does
the
author
introduce
the
research
in
Paragraph
1
A.
By
listing
the
data.
B.
By
analyzing
causes.
C.
By
following
time
order.
D.
By
describing
the
process.
33.What
might
matter
most
in
protecting
the
eyes
against
macular
degeneration
A.
The
vitamins
in
oranges.
B.
The
flavonoids
in
oranges.
C.
The
flavonoids
in
vegetables.
D.
The
nutrition
content
in
foods.
34.What
made
Gopinath’s
research
different
from
others
A.
Study
aims.
B.
Cooperative
ways.
C.
The
age
of
subjects.
D.
The
focus
of
research.
35.What’s
the
best
title
of
the
text?
A.
Eye
diseases
catch
Australian
attention.
B.
The
effects
of
diet
and
nutrition
on
eyes.
C.
An
orange
a
day
keeps
the
eye
doctor
away.
D.
The

根据短文内容,从短文后的七个选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
There
is
an
old
Spanish
saying
which
states,
“Tomorrow
is
often
the
busiest
day
of
the
week.”
How
many
times
have
we
put
off
our
dreams
tomorrow
I’d
say,too
many.
36
We
have
to
go
for
them
now!
Tomorrow
is
not
promised.
Nobody
likes
to
talk
about
death,
but
everybody
is
going
to
die
at
one
point.
None
of
us
know
the
day
or
the
hour.
37
Don’t
go
to
your
tomb(坟墓)
with
unrealized
dreams.
Make
the
decision
to
go
after
every
dream,
big
or
small
right
now.
38
One
of
the
biggest
dream
killers
is
fear.
Many
people
could
have
achieved
amazing
things
if
only
they
weren’t
afraid.
Just
think
about
all
the
things
you’ve
wanted
to
go,
but
allowed
fear
to
convince
you
that
you
weren’t
talented,
or
good
enough.
Fear
is
not
real.
It
is
a
product
of
thoughts
you
create.
Take
action
to
realize
your
dream.
You
can
dream
about
writing
a
great
play,
but
it’s
never
going
to
happen
unless
you
actually
put
pen
to
paper.
You
can
dream
about
finding
a
cure
for
cancer,
but
it
will
never
happen
unless
you
actually
become
equipped
with
the
necessary
tools
to
find
that
cure.
39
.
Possibilities
are
waiting
on
you.
There
are
so
many
amazing
opportunities
and
people
waiting
on
you.
How
do
you
get
to
them
Simple!
Follow
your
dream.
40
You’ll
never
see
those

As

It

your

First,
honesty

When
people

it
always
costs
them
something.
Many
relationships
can
be
destroyed
by
lies.
Second,
honesty

us

(free).
Many
people
believe
that
being
honest
limits
them
in
life,
but
that
is
not
true.
Sooner
or
later
those
dishonest
people

for
their
acts;
on
the
contrary,
when
we
are
honest,
we

If
there
were
two
people

before
you,
a
person
with
a
record
of
being
honest
and
a
person

is
known
to
be
dishonest,
who

I'm

person.
We

Truth
sets
us

and
lies
leave
us

Honesty
is
a

that
we

The
