一、教学目标与要求(Teaching aims and request)
本课要求学生能够理解掌握并运用star, present, Christmas, Christmas lights, Christmas stocking等词,并围绕 We buy ....We eat ....We (do).... 三个方面谈论圣诞节,并学习相关拓展词汇与词组:turkey, crackers, pudding, Santa Claus, hope, fill, top,。学生能够了解圣诞节的相关习俗,并能介绍节前准备、节日食物、节日活动,学生通过体验圣诞派对,如布置圣诞树、写圣诞卡、唱圣诞歌等活动,加深对圣诞节的了解。学生能对春节与圣诞节的习俗进行文化比较,建立中西文化融合的思想。
二、教学重点、难点(Teaching points and difficulties)
(一)重点(Points)
介绍圣诞节节前准备、节日饮食、节日活动。春节与圣诞节的习俗的文化比较。
(二)难点 (Difficulties)
1) Christmas stocking, Santa Claus, crackers的发音。
2) 春节与圣诞节的习俗的文化比较。
三、教学建议 (Teaching suggestions)
Step 1 : Revision and lead-in
1. 汇报收集到的圣诞节特征与风俗。
T: Last lesson, We talked about Spring Festival. This lesson, we are going to talk about the biggest festival in the west. Listen and look.(播放圣诞歌曲,PPT展示下雪图、房子图、雪橇图) What festival is it?
S1: It’s Christmas.
T: Yes, it is Christmas. When is Christmas?
S2: Christmas is on the 25th of December.
T: Please show us the information you collect about Christmas!
S3, S4 ... (请2-3个同学分享)
T: Thank you for your sharing. We know more about Christmas.
2. 教师分享与补充。
T: More than 140 countries and districts celebrate Christmas.(展示世界地图,标注主要相关国家,展示几张主要西方国家庆祝图。)
(设计意图:通过学生收集的圣诞节信息分享,激发学生的内在学习动机。教师在学生分享后作出补充,师生共建生成有关圣诞节的信息。)
Step 2 : Presentation
1. 出示春节与圣诞节的对比
1) 呈现时间的不同。
T: This is the Spring Festival. That is Christmas.(呈现图片)
T: When is the Spring Festival?
S5: The Spring Festival is on the 1st day of the lunar calendar.
T: When is Christmas?
S6: Christmas is on the 25th of December.
2) 概要对比春节与圣诞节
2. 初步了解圣诞节
1) 播放圣诞节小短片。
T: At the Spring Festival, we buy a mandarin tree. We buy ....We eat New Year cake. We eat .... We get lucky money. We ....(教师边说边把一棵大的橘子树贴在黑板,并把相关的句型写在树左边,把词汇贴在树上,一起装饰橘子树。有如年前人们装饰橘子树一样。)
T: I have a good friend. Her name is Angel. She’s from England. I had a special Christmas with her in England in 2011. At Christmas, what do people buy, what do people eat, what do people do? Let’s watch a video about Christmas in the UK. Show a question: What do we eat?
2) 谈论圣诞节
T: What do we eat?
S7: We eat turkey.
T: We don’t eat New Year cake/ Jiandui/ Youjiao. We eat turkey.
T: What is turkey? (展示两张图片,一张火鸡图,一张普通鸡图) Which is turkey?
S8: The left one.
T: What do we buy?
S9: We buy a big Christmas tree.
T: Oh, we don’t buy a mandarin tree. We buy a big Christmas tree.
S10: We buy Christmas lights and Christmas stocking.
T: What do we do?
S11: We get presents.
T: We don’t get lucky money. We get presents.
T: Let’s watch again and find out the new words.
Step 3 Practice the new words
T: Can you tell me the new words?
S12: Christmas stockings ....
T: Christmas stocking, pudding, Christmas light ... We put the Christmas light

Step 3 : Reading
1. 小组一起读第1部分的篇章,形成初步认识。
T: What do we do at Christmas? Let’s read and discuss the words to fill in the blanks.
2. 个人精读文并填写补充内容
T: Let’s read the passage again and fill in the blanks by yourself.
3. 小组交流并根据小组情况进行续写,描述圣诞节具体的情况
T: Please rewrite the passage, write more details about Christmas.
4. 分享
T: Let’s share our ideas.
(设计意图:通过阅读深人了解圣诞节,续写拓展学生思维。)
Step 4: Comparison between the Spring Festival and Christmas.
1. 四人小组通过讨论,用表格形式写出两个节日不同的特点(表格见附件)
2. 展示与分享
(设计意图:随着视频、阅读推进,学生对圣诞节了解加深。利用表格形式更好地激发学生的中西文化对比意识形成,对比春节与圣诞节的异同。)
Step 5 : Christmas party
T:Let’s have a Christmas party.
1. 布置圣诞树
T: Let’s decorate the Christmas tree. One member from each group, please!
2. 唱圣诞歌
T: Let’s sing the Christmas song.
3. 写圣诞卡
T: We usually send Christmas cards. Here is a card. First, we are going to write the name of your friend or teacher here. Then, we are going to write the wishes to your friend. You can choose the wishes on the PPT. At last, we are going to sign our name. I will give you 3 minutes.
T: Now please send your Christmas card to your friend or teacher.
4. 圣诞老人送礼物
T: Listen, Who’s coming? Oh, Santa Claus is coming. Let’s greet him with Merry Christmas and then we will get presents.
(设计意图:通过圣诞派对,创设真实情境,让学生体验参与,有利于学生对圣诞节文化的理解与包容。)
Step 6 : Summary and homework
1. 总结对比春节与圣诞节的异同
T: In this lesson, we know The Spring Festival and Christmas are the biggest festivals in the east and the west.
We all decorate a tree before the festival. We all go shopping. We all have special food. We all have special activities.
T: At the Spring Festival, we decorate
S: We decorate a mandarin tree.
T: What do we buy?
S: We buy ( firecrackers, new clothes, couplets, red packets, flowers ... )
T: What do we eat?
S: We eat (Youjiao, Jiandui, New Year cake ... )
T: What do we do?
S: We (get lucky money, say “Gongxifacai” , watch CCTV New Year show ... )
T: But at Christmas, we don’t buy mandarin tree, we buy ... .
S: We buy a Christmas tree.
T: We don’t eat New year cake. We eat ... .
S: We eat turkey and pudding.
T: We don’t get lucky money. We get ...
S: We get lucky money.
T: But we can share our festivals, share our culture!
3. 布置作业:
1) 把春节与圣诞节的异同告诉父母。
2) 选取一个你想了解的节日,收集相关资料,并与同学分享。
T: Homework for you! First, tell the differences about the Spring Festival and Christmas. Then, choose one festival you want to know, collect all the information and share with your friends.
(设计意图:与学生一起总结本课学习重点,归纳总结春节与圣诞节的异同,激起学生对学习节日文化的兴趣。让学生自主选择一个想了解的节日,与同学分享交流,充分体现民主、平等、分享原则,激活学生对文化学习的内在学习动机。)
