From
writers
to
scientists,
here
are
the
amazing
stories
of
women
you
may
not
know
about,
but
certainly
should.
Murasaki
Shikibu
You
may
be
familiar
with
lots
of
novels
by
male
writers,
from
Mark
Twain
to
Charles
Dickens.
But
their
works
may
not
even
have
existed
if
it
hadn’t
been
for
Murasaki
Shikibu,
a
Japanese
woman
widely
considered
to
be
the
world’s

Maria
Sibylla
Merian
Today,
children
as
young
as
preschool
age
can
happily
explain
how
a
caterpillar
(毛虫)
turns
into
a
butterfly.
But
there
was
a
time
when
no
one
knew
this
—
not
even
scientists.
Until
the
1670s,
scientists
thought
that
caterpillars
and
butterflies
were
two
totally
different
creatures.
Thanks
to
Maria
Sibylla
Merian,
we
know
the
truth
about
these
beautiful
insects.
Ada
Lovelace
Ada

born
in
1815,
was
the

programmer.
Lovelace’s
mathematical
(数学的)
talent
was
obvious
at
a
young
age
and
caught
the
attention
of
Charles
Babbage.
Babbage
designed
the
early
computing
machine
that
he
hoped
would
be
able
to
quickly
solve
math
problems.
In
addition
to
helping
Babbage
design
the
early
computer
program,
Lovelace
was
also
the
first
to
recognize
that
the
machine
might
be
able
to
do
more
than
calculation.
Tu
Youyou
Tu
Youyou,
born
in
1930,
became
the
first
Chinese
scientist
to
win
the
Nobel
Prize
in
Physiology
or
Medicine.
In
the
1970s,
Tu
worked
to
find
a
way
to
prevent
the
spread
of
malaria
(疟疾).
She
discovered
artemisinin
(青蒿素),
which
is
used
in
life-saving,
malaria-fighting
drugs
around
the
world
today.

B
After
giving
a
talk
at
a
high
school,
I
was
asked
to
pay
a
visit
to
a
special
student.
An
illness
had
kept
the
boy
home,
but
he
had
expressed
an
interest
in
meeting
me,
and
it
would
mean
a
great
deal
to
him.
I
agreed.
During
the
nine-mile
drive
to
his
home,
I
found
out
something
about
Matthew.
He
had
muscular
dystrophy(肌肉萎缩症).
When
he
was
born,
the
doctor
told
his
parents
that
he
would
not
live
to
see
five,
and
then
they
were
told
he
would
not
make
it
to
ten.
Now
he
was
thirteen.
He
wanted
to
meet
me
because
I
was
a
gold-medal
power
lifter,
and
I
knew
about
overcoming
obstacles
(障碍)
and
going
for
my
dreams.
I
spent
over
an
hour
talking
to
Matthew.
Never
once
did
he
complain
or
ask,
“Why
me ”
He
spoke
about
winning
and
succeeding
and
going
for
his
dreams.
Obviously,
he
knew
what
he
was
talking
about.
He
didn’t
mention
that
his
classmates
had
made
fun
of
him
because
he
was
different.
He
just
talked
about
his
hopes
for
the
future,
and
how
one
day
he
wanted
to
lift
weight
with
me.
When
we
finished
talking,
I
went
to
my
briefcase
and
pulled
out
the
first
gold
medal
I
won
and
put
it
around
his
neck.
I
told
him
he
was
more
of
a
winner
and
knew
more
about
success
and
overcoming
obstacles
than
I
ever
would.
He
looked
at
it
for
a
moment,
then
took
it
off
and
handed
it
back
to
me.
He
said,
“You
are
a
champion.
You
earned
that
medal.
Someday
when
I
get
to
the
Olympics
and
win
my
own
medal,
I
will
show
it
to
you.”
Last
summer
I
received
a
letter
from
Matthew’s
parents
telling
me
that
Matthew
had
passed
away.
They
wanted
me
to
have
a
letter
he
had
written
to
me
a
few
days
before:
Dear
Rick,
My
mom
said
I
should
send
you
a
thank-you
letter
for
the
picture
you
sent
me.
I
also
want
to
let
you
know
that
the
doctors
tell
me
that
I
don’t
have
long
to
live
anymore.
But
I
still
smile
as
much
as
I
can.
I
told
you
someday
I
was
going
to
the
Olympics
and
win
a
gold
medal.
But
I
know
now
I
will
never
get
to
do
that.
But
I
know
I’m
a
champion,
and
God
knows
that
too.
When
I
get
to
Heaven,
God
will
give
me
my
medal
and
when
you
get
there,
I
will
show
it
to
you.
Thank
you
for
loving
me.
Your
friend,
Mathew

seriously
injured

a
mountain top
lightning
strike

killed
two
others
is
showing
signs
of
improvement,
the
police
have
said.
A
major
rescue
operation
was
performed
on
Sunday
following
two
strikes
which
hit
the
Brecon
Beacons,
South
Wales.
Two
men
died,
while
two
others
were
taken
to
hospital.
A
police
spokeswoman
said,
“A
man
in
a
serious
condition
in
hospital,
following
simultaneous(同时发生的)
incidents
in
the
Brecon
Beacons,
has
now

recovering.
Officers
are

with
the
next

relatives
of

The

were
rare,
electrical
storms
should
be
taken
seriously
by
walkers.
The
organisation’s
delivery
officer,
Elly
Hannigan
Popp,
said,
“We’d
advise
everyone
to
check
the
weather
forecast
before
starting
a
walk.
If
you
hear
thunder,
see
lightning
or
if
your
hair

even
if
the
sky
looks
blue
and
clear.
Lightning
will
strike
as
far
as
10
miles
away
from
any
rainfall.
Lightning
can
strike
the
same
place
repeatedly
—
especially
tall,
pointed,
isolated
objects.”
“If
there
is
no
shelter
you
should
keep
moving.
And
if
you
become
the
tallest
object,
crouch(蹲)
in
the
open
twice
as
far
away
from
the
nearest
pointed
object
as
it
is
tall.
Make
yourself
as
small
as
possible,
stay
on
your
toes
and
keep
your
heels
together,
as
it
will
allow
electricity
to
go
up
one
foot,
through
the
heels
and
back
into
the
ground
through
the
other.”

Looking
back
on
China’s
road
to
outer
space,
people
can
easily
find
it
has
not
been
very
smooth.
In
the
past
years,
Chinese
people
have
made
hard
and
determined
efforts
to
realize
the
dream
their
ancestors
had
for
thousands
of
years.
After
China’s
first
satellite
into
the
Earth’s
orbit
in
1970
came
four
flights
of
unmanned
Shenzhou
missions
from
1999
to
2002.The
country
carried
out
its
first
one-piloted
space
flight
in
0ctober,
2003,
making
China
the
third
country
in
the
world
to
have
independent
human
spaceflight
ability
after
the
Soviet
Union
and
the
United
States.
Then
came
another
breakthrough
oil
October
12,2005,
when
Shenzhou
6,
China’s’
second
human
spaceflight,
was
launched,
with
a
crew
of
two
astronauts.
What’s
more,
the
landmark(里程碑)spacewalk
done
by
ZhaiZhigang
,one
of
the
three
boarding
Shenzhou

further
in
its
space
exploration.
Meanwhile,
China’s
moon
exploration
project,
started
in

has
also
been
progressing
satisfactorily.
Fifty
years
after
the

the

first
man
made

China’s
first
circumlunar(绕月的)satellite
Chang’e

took

on
Oct.24,
2007,
which
became
another
milestone
in
China’s
space
achievements
after
the.
above-men-tioned
manned
flights.
Chang’e
l
was
expected
to
fulfill
four
scientific
goals,
one
of
which
was
to
probe(探测)mineral
elements
on
the
moon,
especially
those
not
existent
on
the
Earth.
It’s
said
that
the
1unar
regolith(月壤)is
abundant
in
helium-3,
a
clean
fuel
that
may
support
the
Earth’s
energy
demands
for
more
than
a
century.
Nearly
3
years
later,Oct.1.

the
blasting

of
Chang’e
2.China’s
2nd
unmanned
lunar
probe,
marking
another
step
forward
in
moon
exploration.
This
time
the
aim
is
to
test
the
key
techniques
of
Chang’e
3
and
Chang’e
4,
as
a
preparation
for
a
soft
lunar
landing
in
the

With
great
expectations,
people
all
over
the

are
looking

Ralph

right.
First
I
looked
at

第四节
七选五(共5小题;每小题1分,满分5分)
根据短文内容,
从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中的两项为多余选项。
People
who
experience
face
blindness
can
have
a
hard
time
in
their
social
life.
They
have
trouble
remembering
or
recognizing
faces.
The
term
‘face
blindness’
isn’t
exactly
accurate
though.
66
.
They
just
can’t
put
all
the
parts
together
into
one
coherent
image
that
they
remember
and
recognize
when
they
see
it
again,
which
is
why
proper
name
for
face
blindness
is
prosopagnosia,
or
literally
“not
knowing
the
face”.
67
These
clues
include
the
way
they
sound
(their
voice
or
accent),
the
way
they
look
(body
size,
shape
or
height),
the
way
they
smell,
their
clothing,
their
hair(style,
colour
or
length)
and
obvious
features
on
their
face(beards,
piercings
heavy
eyebrow,
glasses).
68
Because
they’re
not
always
unique
to
one
person
and
they
can
change.
This
is
why
face
blindness
can
cause
so
much
stress.
If
you
don’t
experience
face
blindness,
you’ve
probably
never
given
much
thought
to
your
ability
to
recognize
familiar
people
or
how
important
that
is
to
your
social
interactions
and
feelings
of
safety.
But
imagine
if
you
didn’t
know
whether
the
person
approaching
you
is
a
friend
or
a
stranger.
69
.
Or
imagine
not
being
able
to
find
the
teacher
when
you
need
to
use
the
toilet,
because
your
teacher
wears
glasses
and
none
of
the
adults
in
the
room
are
wearing
glasses
today.
70
.
A.
These
are
important
ways
to
remember
someone’s
face.
B.
Do
you
say
hello
or
just
keep
on
walking
C.
Those
with
face
blindness
have
to
use
other
clues
to
recognize
people.
D.
It’s
easy
to
see
the
effect
this
would
have
on
your
social
skills
and
confidence.
E.
These
are
much
less
effective
ways
to
recognize
someone.
F.
There
are
tests
you
can
take
to
get
an
idea
about
your
face-recognizing
abilities.
G.
They
actually
can
see
faces.

第二节
短文填空(共10小题,每小题1分,满分10分)
根据句意,用所给词的适当形式填空。
Sure,
it’s
good
to
get
along
with
your
teacher
81
it
makes
the
time
you
spend
in
the
classroom
more
pleasant.
And
because,
in
general,
it’s
smart
to
learn
how
to
approach
different
82
(type)
of
people
you’ll
meet
throughout
your
life.
But
really,
there’s
one
super-important
reason
83
you
should
do
it.
Kids
who
get
along
with
their
teachers
not
only
learn
more,
but
they’re
84
(comfortable)
in
asking
questions
and
getting
more
help.
This
makes
85
easier
to
understand
new
materials
and
do
your
best
on
tests.
As
a
kid
in
elementary
or
middle
school,
you’re
at
a
wonderful
stage
in
your
life.
You’re
like
a
sponge
(海绵),
able
to
take
in
lots
of
new
and
86
(excite)
information.
Besides,
you’re
able
to
think
about
all
these
information
87
new
ways.
In
most
cases,
your
teacher
is
happy
to
be
the
person
who’s
giving
you
all
materials
and
88
(help)
you
put
them
together.
Remember,
teachers
are
people,
too.
They
feel
great
if
you’re
open
to
what
they’re
teaching
you.
That’s
why
they
89
(want)
to
be
teachers
when
they
were
in
school—to
teach!
So
some
kids
should
learn
90
to
get
along
with
teachers,
whether
you
like
the
teacher
or
not.

书面表达
A
good
habit,
a
successful
life
A
habit
is
something
that
you
do
often
or
regularly
almost
without
thinking,
especially
something
that
is
hard
to
stop
doing.
Developing
good
habits
of
learning
is
necessary
for
us.
First
of
all,
we
should
concentrate
our
attention
in
class,
which
will
help
us
better
understand
what
teachers
say.
Also,
we
are
supposed
to
make
the
best
of
the
time
for
independent
study,
which
can
improve
our
ability
to
learn
by
ourselves.
Finally,
we
are
encouraged
to
finish
homework
alone.
At
the
same
time,
good
habits
of
living
are
also
good
for
our
life.
Healthy
eating
along
with
regular
exercise
is
probably
the
only
way
to
become
fit.
What
is
more,
a
good
amount
of
sleep
every
night
is
also
important
for
our
health,
for
it
makes
us
feel
energetic
and
well
prepared
for
the
day
to
come.
Good
habits
have
a
positive
effect
on
our
life.
Once
a
good
habit
is
formed,
it
will
give
us
power
to
control
ourselves
and
get
rid
of
bad
habits.
If
we
insist
on
behaving
ourselves
properly,
we
are
sure
to
live
a
successful
life.
