Dear Editor,
I am writing to protest about the plan for a new airport. Many people have been against the idea from the start. However, the government is planning to go ahead with the building next year.
First, the government says that the airport will bring us industry and jobs. However, in my opinion, it will ruin the character of Tamford, a historic country town. Although the airport would bring tourists, I am not sure they would want to stay in a dirty, industrial town.
No matter what the government says, it is clear that the airport will also affect our health. Problems will increase even though the government has promised us a new hospital. Air pollution will get worse and this will be harmful to people, for example, it can cause cancer. Noise pollution will also have an effect on the houses and schools near the airport.
I think other people should write to the government about this problem. We should do everything we can to stop this airport.
I look forward to reading more letters about this matter in your newspaper.

I am writing to complain about serious pollution caused by Taiping Carpet Factory opposite our school. Many people have been complaining about it, but the problem is still unsettled.
Maybe the carpet factory will bring more job opportunities. However, in my opinion, the factory, located at the foot of Xiqiao Mountain, a beautiful tourist attraction, is causing serious pollution, which is ruining the beautiful and clean environment and affecting the local tourism. It is clear that nobody wants to stay in a dirty town.
Another problem is that the pollution has a bad influence on people's life and health. The air pollution is getting worse now and this will be harmful to people's health, for example, it can cause cancer. In addition, the factory pours the waste into the river, which will damage the balance of nature. What's worse, the machines are so noisy that we can not concentrate on our study.
As far as I am concerned, on the one hand, not only I but also other people should write to government about this problem. On the other hand, it is the factory that has an important role to play in solving the problem. For example, they should update their machines and use high-techniques to reduce pollution.
