二、阅读理解(共15小题;每小题2分,满分30分)
A
阅读下面一篇短文,从l~3各题所给的四个选项(A、B、C、D)中,选出最佳选项。
Most Chinese parents have great expectations (期望) of their children. When children are born, their parents have planned everything for them. It is common for parents to want their children to be successful. However, many children in China are unhappy. They live a planned life and are forced to fulfill the dreams.
In my opinion, there are two sides to parents' expectations. The expectations can encourage children to work harder for a better life. According to some studies, whether a child will be successful or not depends largely on his or her parents' expectations. However, unrealistic (不切实际的) expectations can be harmful to children. Every child has his or her own thoughts and feelings. Parents' expectations can take children's freedom away. Wise parents allow their children to have some freedom. They encourage their children to do things they like to do and never judge them only by their grades.
My parents' expectations of me are to be happy, kind and healthy. They never put too much pressure on me, and I live a happy life. However, I have my own dreams. I keep working hard, though my parents do not force me to do so. I will never give up because my parents always encourage me when I am in trouble.
In a word, I think parents' expectations are necessary. However, parents should not give their children too much pressure. Instead, give them enough freedom. Parents must make sure their expectations of their children are realistic so that their children will not lose their self-confidence.

阅读下面一篇短文,从1~3各题所给的四个选项(A、B、C、D)中,选出最佳选项。
The first time my wife Linda gave birth was in a hospital.
When Linda got pregnant(怀孕)for the second time, we wanted a home birth, not just for ourselves, but for our daughter. We are very open with our daughter. We want to teach her respect and awe(敬畏)for the things of bodies. So she was part of the process from the very beginning.
In the morning the midwives came just as Linda was climbing into the birth tub(盆). Our daughter offered her mom water and food while she rested. When she found the noise and activity of birth, she was too nervous to stay long, so she spent a few minutes next to the tub, then went into another room to play. The midwives called her back in time to see her brother come into the world. As Linda pulled our tiny newborn son up, our daughter and I rushed to her side, all four of us hugging and crying and very excited.
That night, and many times since then, our daughter said, "I'm so proud of Mom for having a baby." She has seen and admired the effort it takes to bring a new person into the world. It's a part of her life, something that can happen in the same room where she colors and watches movies.
It was crucial that our daughter was part of that experience, not just for her, but for Linda and me as well. Everything we wanted for her-trusted care providers; a very familiar environment; continuing support; good food-were things we needed but didn't have the first time Linda gave birth. We crossed this threshold (门槛)together, as a family, and it was messy and scary and painful and unusual and mysterious and really perfect.

A. carefully hardworking cooks B. specially trained nurses
C. truly talented singers D. very friendly drivers

A. didn't want her wife Linda to give birth in the family
B. didn't want their family to cross the threshold together
C. thought it was crucial that their daughter was not part of the experience
D. wanted her daughter to know that she was trusted and needed in the family
3. Which is the best title(标题)for this passage?
A. My First Child Was Born in a Hospital.
B. The Second Child in My Happy Family.
C. A Messy and Painful and Unusual Family.
D. Why Did We Choose a Home Birth for Our Second Child?
C
读下面关于“草莓”小孩的文章,然后判断文章后面的问题,正确的答案写“T”,错误的答案写“F"。
Strawberries look nice, but a light pressure can make them out of shape. Nowadays, there are many young people who are just like strawberries. They easily break down when they face difficulties. They don't know what to do when they are in trouble. They have a common name-strawberry kids.
Why are many students so easy to break down? Parents and schools are a main reason. Parents do almost everything for them in their daily life, while schools care more about their grades instead of developing their personality(个性).
Liu Yue, 13, is from Fujian. His mom hardly criticizes(批评)him and he always feels good about himself. When a teacher criticized him strictly, he felt surprised and sad. He began to doubt his ability.
Students should do something to make themselves mentally strong. An expert said, “When you are in trouble, don't ask for help too quickly. You should try to deal with problems first by yourself. I also advise you to take an active part in sports and social activities. That can make you mentally strong."
Growing up is not just a happy process(过程). Pains also go along with it. The most important thing is to face the pains bravely and learn from them.
( )1. Some students are called "strawberry kids" because they all like to eat some fruit, especially strawberries.
( )2. Liu Yue's mother often criticizes him.
( )3. According to the fourth paragraph, students should ask for help quickly when they are in trouble.
( )4. The writer advises students to be brave in the face of pains.

An Unusual Experience
I never forget that special day! On October 10th, 2017, I had an unusual experience. At around eight o'clock in the morning I was doing my homework at home when a fire started. My parents were working in the factory. My little brother was sleeping in his bedroom. I wasn't frightened. I called the fire department. Soon the firemen arrived. With their help, the fire was soon put out. When my parents got home from work, they both said I was a brave girl.
