When he was 22, Rob Stewart traveled the world for four years. He wanted to call attention to the mistreatment of sharks. His 2007 film, Sharkwater, documents the cruel practice of removing sharks' fins for money and leaving the animals to die. In his latest documentary, Revolution, Stewart takes on an even bigger challenge: climate change.
The Canadian filmmaker says that climate change has harmed people and places everywhere: “It is stronger than any government or organization. If we educate people, they will make better decisions about protecting natural resources.”
According to a recent report on climate change," The atmosphere and ocean have warmed, the amounts of snow and ice have reduced, and sea levels have risen."These developments are endangering crops, wildlife, fish, and even people.
Stewart says that the consequences of climate change will be irreversible unless people take action, especially young people. "It's up to kids to be the moral compass(道德指南) of society," he believes, “and say,‘Guys, this is not right’。”
Many kids took action after seeing Sharkwater. Elementary school students in the Northern Mariana Islands, for example, got their local government to ban the sale of shark fins.
Felix Finkbeiner, 17, from Germany is also part of the "revolution" to save the planet. In 2007, Felix started a youth group called Plant-for-the-Planet, whose motto is "Stop Talking. Start Planting.” The group raises money to plant trees. So far, Plant-for-the-Planet has planted nearly 200 trees around the world." Future generations are the ones who will be suffering the most from inaction(无作为),” Felix says。 His goal is to plant millions of additional trees.
“When we started four years ago,” Felix tells Stewart in Revolution, “ we thought we had to save the polar bear. We thought we had to save the environment. But soon after, we found out that it's about our future, that we have to save our own future.”
21. What did Rob Stewart attach importance to in terms of environment protection?
A. Traveling the world. B. Making effective policies.
C. Educating the young. D. Making exciting films.
22. Which of the following can best describe Felix Finkbeiner?
A. Easy-going. B. Peace-loving. C. Far-sighted. D. Self-centered.
23. Which is closest in meaning to the underlined word in the 4th paragraph?
A. unpredictable. B. can’t be changed back C. improved. D. change directions.

Limited to a narrow seat for hours with just a tiny bag of cookies and orange juice to comfort yourself, the last thing you feel like doing when you get off a plane is to wait around for your bags. The easy option when traveling has been to limit yourself to a carry-on suitcase and pray it fits in the overhead bin. Not only does it get you out of the airport faster but it's also free. Not any longer, however.
Recently, some airlines are starting to charge for carry-on bags, and travelers aren't at all happy about it. Packing light might not be an option anymore when looking for tips to get the best airfare possible.
Some smaller airlines such as Frontier and Spirit have always charged customers for carry-on bags, but now bigger name airlines, such as United, are starting to do it too. When you purchase a Basic Economy ticket through United you're not allowed a full-size carry-on bag unless you're a Mileage Plus Premier member. Should you forget to check your bag before security and bring it all the way to the gate, not only will you pay the checked-bag fee, but you'll have to pay an additional $25 gate handling charge. Not the best way to start off a trip. Don ' t miss these additional things airlines don't want to tell you-but every flier should be aware of.
You might assume that the new carry-on bag guidelines are due to space limitations in the overhead bins, but it has more to do with on-time rates, Aviation economies expert and senior vice president of ICF Aviation Samuel Engel told Vox that the biggest bottleneck when it comes to boarding is carry-on luggage. For every minute a plane isn't in the air, it's losing money. A delayed departure makes the flight crew look bad and passengers very angry.
So, the next time you fly, plan to check your bag before security, pay a bit more for your ticket so you are allowed a carry-on, or try rolling a week's worth of clothes into a backpack, a still-allowed “personal item”.
24. What does the first paragraph intend to convey?
A. People's frustration during a flight. B. People's attitude toward waiting for luggage.
C. Convenience for carry-on suitcases. D. New policies for free carry-on suitcases.
25. Which of the following is NOT the reason why more airlines begin to charge for carry-ons?
A. Space limitations. B. Passengers support. C. On-time rates. D. Increasing budget.
26. What is the main idea of the passage?
A. Tips for dealing with increasing carry-on rates.
B. Instructions before taking a flight.
C. Passengers' complaints about the airlines.
D. More airlines are starting to charge for carry-on bags

The worlds first hydrogen-powered trains have begun running in Germany. They began carrying passengers Monday in Germanys northern Lower Saxony state. The new train will run 100-kilometer trips and can travel up to 140 kilometers an hour.
A French railroad company called Alstom built the two trains. Team in Germany and France cooperated on the project, which was supported by the German government. The new train model, called the Coradia iLint, signals the beginning of efforts in Germany and other nations to move away from pollution-producing diesel(柴油) trains.
The Coradia lInt is designed to run on non-electrified train lines with low levels of noise.
It uses a process that combines hydrogen and oxygen to produce electrical power. If the system produces more energy than the train needs at that time, it can store the extra energy in batteries. The only emissions(排放物) are water and steam.
A single tank of hydrogen can run a Coradia iLint train for about 1, 000 kilometers. This is very similar to the distance a diesel-powered train can run on with a single tank.
Hydrogen-powered trains cost more than diesel trains to build. But Alstom officials say the operating costs are much lower. The company plans to provide another 14 Coradia iLint trains to Lower Saxony by 2021.
The head of railroad operations in the area, Carmen Schwab, praised replacing diesel trains with hydrogen. She said the move was an important first step in using clean-burning technologies to reach climate protection goals.
Officials say the area's many wind turbines(涡轮机) will produce part of the energy to create the hydrogen to power the trains.
Alstom says several other European countries have also expressed interest in developing hydrogen train systems. France has already said it wants its first hydrogen train to be operating by 2022.
27. Why did Germany build the new trains?
A. To replace diesel trains. B. To carry more passengers.
C. To make traveling much easier. D. To develop friendship with France.
28. What is one advantage of the Coradia lInt?
A. It runs without making any noise. B. It doesn't use electrical power.
C. It costs much less to run. D. It is cheaper to make it.
29. It can be concluded that hydrogen trains________.
A. are widely used. B. are environmentally friendly.
C. can stop air pollution. D. can produce water and oxygen.
30. What might be the best title for the text?
A. Saving Natural Resources. B. Efforts to Reduce Emissions.
C. World's First Hydrogen Trains. D. A New Way to Make Electricity

Feeling Phone-overwhelmed?
Many people are feeling "phone-overwhelmed", longing for a "simpler time" when smartphones didn't exist. Actually you don't necessarily need to flush your brand new iPhone down the toilet or vow to never, ever tweet again. Things don t have to be that black or white. 31 Here are a few simple steps.
Make a plan. To earn a college degree, you select specific classes happening at specific times and you attend them. This keeps you on track, moving steadily towards your goal. 32 Choose specific times to check texts, social media updates, and so on and then do your best to stick to the plan. Create phone-routines that help you to create the kind of day (and life) that you want.
Enjoy the sound of silence to the fullest. If your phone is continually bleeping and pinging every time something happens", it's going to be tough for you to stay focused—you'll be tempted to check in and see what's up! It may seem obvious to turn off those noisy notifications. 33 You can also create a "call filter" so that certain people's calls come through even if your phone is on "silent". That way you can rest easy, knowing you won't miss something truly urgent.
_34 For many couples and families, dinnertime is the only time of the day when everyone
is gathered together in one place. Make dinner a special, sacred time without techie distractions. No phones at the table. If people get restless or bored, strike up an interesting conversation by playing a question game.
Ask yourself, "What am I desiring right now? "When you feel the urge to check your phone, and you don't really "need" to, pause for a moment. 35 Do you seek out company, entertainment or inspiration? Whatever you want, see if you can find a non-phone-related way to satisfy yourself. Go for a jog, listen to music or pop by a friend's house to say "hi", Feeding your spirit in the "real world", you may discover that the "phone world" just isn't that appealing anymore.
A. Take some phone-free time.
B. Make dinnertime a phone- free zone.
C. Check in with yourself and see what you want.
D. See how it feels to move freely without your phone.
E. You can apply that same logic to your smartphone usage.
F. You can take specific steps to create healthier, more balanced relations of technology.
G. Better yet, turn the volume on your phone down to zero or power down your phone completely.

第二节概要写作(满分25分)
阅读下面短文,根据其内容写一篇60词左右的内容概要
We already know that the underwater world is anything but silent. It is full of natural sounds produced by animals and by the motion of the atmosphere and water. But today's researchers are increasingly concerned about the man-made noises under the water. They are confusing—and even killing—fish, whales and other marine animals.
Although hearing is important to all animals, the special qualities of the undersea world emphasize the use of sound. Underwater sound allows marine animals to gather information and communicate at great distances and from all directions. Loud underwater noises can cause damage to their hearing. And nowadays it's becoming too much for marine wildlife. Evidence shows that whales will swim hundreds of miles, rapidly change their depth, and even beach themselves to get away from the sounds of sonar.
You might think lower noises, typically caused by shipping or construction, do not pose a threat to marine animals. In fact, while they may not kill the animals directly, they can disturb their ability to locate food, find mates and avoid predators(掠食动物). Scientists looked at the effects of noise from small motorboats on coral-reef fish at the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. In the lab, the fish had been trained to recognize the smell of three common predators as a threat. Some fish were trained in the presence of boat noise, while the others had training with the natural sounds of the ocean. It turned out that the first group showed no fright reactions when exposed to the predator. However, the other group was scared. And under the influence of underwater noise on this group, only 20 percent of fish survived, compared to almost 70 percent of unexposed fish.
Humans rely on the ocean for its natural resources and biodiversity. The ocean also plays an important role in regulating(调节) temperatures, as Cousteau said, “For most of history, man has had to fight nature to survive: in this century he is beginning to realize that, in order to survive, he must protect it.”
