When

But
nothing

Hours

12、Teenagers'
fitness
is
now
a
major
concern,
and
physical
exercise
is
very
important.
It
reduces
stress
and
improves
fitness.
Exercise
makes
your
body
strong,
and
helps
you
to
keep
the
right
body
weight.
Sports
scientist
Dr.
Helen
Lopez
offers
the
following
advice
to
teenagers:
“First,you
need
to
find
out
your
present
level
of
fitness.
Then
you
can
design
a
programme
that
will
help
you
become
healthier.”
Dr.
Lopez
suggests
that
there
are
three
levels
of
fitness
that
need
a
change
of
lifestyle.
“Overweight”
means
that
the
person
gets
very
little
exercise
and
often
has
a
serious
weight
problem.
“Inactive”
means
that
the
person
does
not
join
in
many
physical
activities,
hut
is
not
seriously
overweight.

Active”
refers
to
people
who
take
part
in
sports
and
other
physical
activities,
but
do
not
have
a
high
fitness
level.
According
to
Dr.
Lopez,
overweight
teenagers
should
work
out
to
keep
healthy.
"Ride
a
bike,
play
volleyball
or
basketball
for
a
while,
and
go
for
a
twenty-minute
walk
each
day.
All
these
will
help
to
burn
calories.”
Inactive
teenagers
should
do
similar
activities,
but
add
some
bending
and
stretching
exercises,
such
as
push-ups
and
sit-ups,
starting
with
twenty
of
each
a
day.
Inactive
people
can
take
a
little
more
exercise
than
overweight
people
because
their
bodies
are
stronger,Dr.
Lopez
said.
The
same
rule
applies
to(适用于)active
teenagers.
Dr.
Lopez
suggests
one
hour
a
week
or
more
on
running
and
other
forms
of
intensive
exercise,
together
with
fifteen
minutes
a
day
spent
on
stretching
and
bending
activities.
These
are
really
important
in
order
to
prevent
injuries,”
Dr.
Lopez
said.
Some
weight-training
and
other
body-
strengthening
exercises
could
also
be
planned
in
the
programme
in
order
to
increase
the
person’s
strength.

13、James
Cleveland
Owens
was
the
son
of
a
farmer
and
the
grandson
of
black
slaves.
His
family
moved
to
Cleveland
when
he
was
9.
There,
a
school
teacher
asked
the
youth
his
name.

J.
C.,”
he
replied.
She
thought
he
had
said
“Jesse”,and
he
had
a
new
name.
Owens
ran
his
first
race
at
age
13.
After
high
school,
he
went
to
Ohio
State
University.
He
had
to
work
part
time
so
as
to
pay
for
his
education.
As
a
second
year
student,
in
the
Big
Ten
games
in
1935,
he
set
even
more
records
than
he
would
in
the
Olympic
Games
a
year
later.
A
week
before
the
Big
Ten
meet,
Owens
accidentally
fell
down
a
flight
of
stairs.
His
back
hurt
so
much
that
he
could
not
exercise
all
week,
and
he
had
to
be
helped
in
and
out
of
the
car
that
drove
him
to
the
meet.
He
refused
to
listen
to
the
suggestions
that
he
give
up
and
said
he
would
try.
He
did
try,
and
the
results
are
in
the
record
book.
The
stage
was
set
for
Owens’
victory
at
the
Olympic
Games
in
Berlin
the
next
year,
and
his
success
would
come
to
be
regarded
as
not
only
athletic
but
also
political.
Hitler
did
not
congratulate
any
of
the
African
American
winners.

It
was
all
right
with
me,”
he
said
years
later.

I
didn’t
go
to
Berlin
to
shake
hands
with
him,anyway.

Having
returned
from
Berlin,
he
received
no
telephone
calls
from
the
president
of
his
own
country,
either.
In
fact,
he
was
not
honored
by
the
United
States
until
1976,
four
years
before
his
death.
Owens’
Olympic
victories
made
little
difference
to
him.
He
earned
his
living
by
looking
after
a
school
playground,
and
accepted
money
to
race
against
cars,
trucks,
motorcycles
and
dogs.

Sure,it
bothered
me,”
he
said
later.

But
at
least
it
was
an
honest
living.
I
had
to
eat.

In
time,
however,
his
gold
medals
changed
his
life.
“They
have
kept
me
alive
over
the
years,”
he
once
said.
“Time
has
stood
still
for
me.

11、
Did
you
know
that
the
color
of
uniforms(制服)can
influence
the
performance
of
an
athlete
It
may
sound
strange,
but
a
study
suggests
this
might
be
true.

Two
British
scientists
studied
the
results
of
four
spots
in
the
2004
Athens
Olympic
Games
where
the
athletes
had
been
given
either
a
red
or
a
blue
uniform.
They
discovered
that
when
there
was
a
big
difference
in
the
score,
color
had
no
influence
on
the
result
.
But
if
it
was
a
close
match,
the
athlete
in
a
red
uniform
was
more
likely
to
win.
Then
they
looked
at
the
uniforms
of
the
soccer
teams
at
the
Euro
2004
tournament.
Again,
teams
wearing
red
won
more
games.

The
two
scientists
got
their
idea
from
earlier
studies
of
wild
animals.
It
had
been
discovered
that
when
a
male(雄性)shows
red
on
its
body,
it
sends
a
signal(信号)of
its
power
and
strength.
For
example,
in
many
kinds
of
monkey,
the
more
the
male
shows
off
its
red
scars(伤疤),the
more
females
it
can
attract.

Based
on
this
fact,
the
British
scientists
thought
that
the
idea
might
work
for
humans,
too.
According
to
them,
when
an
athlete
sees
a
competitor
in
a
red
uniform,
he
gets
a
feeling
that
his
competitor
could
be
stronger
than
him.
And
that
kind
of
feeling
may
have
a
bad
influence
on
the
player’s
performance
in
the
actual
game.

Although
the
idea
is
interesting,
most
people
don’t
accept
that
color
signals
in
the
animal
world
can
really
be
useful
to
humans
in
sports.
They
think
that
it
is
unreasonable
to
develop
an
idea
based
on
such
a
small
number
of
examples.
Much
more
research
has
to
be
done
to
prove
the
influence
of
uniform
colors
on
the
performance
of
athletes.
1.What
did
the
scientists
find
out

12、That
China
will
not
play
in
the
Football
World
Cup
has
not
prevented
Chinese
soccer
fans
from
taking
part
in
the
exhilaration
of
the
sports
gala
in
Russia.
Reports
say
Chinese
fans
have
bought
over
40,
000
tickets,
more
than
Spanish
and
English
fans.
They
have
also
booked
16
percent
of
the
hotel
rooms
in
the
host
cities
in
Russia.
Except
for
actually
playing,
China
will
take
part
in
almost
every
other
aspect
of
the
World
Cup.
Chinese
companies
have
made
the
balls
to
be
used
in
the
World
Cup
and
the
official
mascot
Zabivaka.
And
the
air-conditioning
system
in
the
newly
built
Mordovia
Stadium
in
Saransk
has
been
provided
by
Chinese
companies
as
well.
Fans
can
also
get
World
Cup
special
coins
that
are
made
in
Nanjing.
“It
is
no
secret
that
China
has
a
key
role
in
our
plan
to
develop
football
around
the
globe.
It
must
play,”
said
FIFA
secretary-general
Fatma
Samoura
during
her
visit
to
Beijing
last
year.
FIFA
has
set
a
target
of
making
60
percent
of
the
world’s
population
take
part
in
soccer
by
2026.
And
China,
thanks
to
its
huge
population,
will
play
an
important
role
in
realizing
that
goal.
Although
China
is
ranked
between
80
to
90
in
the
world
soccer
standing,
it
has
more
than
200
million
soccer
fans.
Moreover,
ten
Chinese
super
league
players
are
making
Chinese
fans
proud
by
shouldering
national
duty
for
their
countries
in
the
World
Cup.
China
has
almost
all
the
conditions
needed
for
the
healthy
development
of
soccer.
Hopefully,
the
World
Cup
will
encourage
the
decision-makers
to
focus
on
ordinary
people
to
develop
the
sport.
In
the
1950s,
the
government
at
various
levels
built
a
large
number
of
ping-pong
tables
in
urban
residential
communities,
which
attracted
a
large
number
of
people
to
play
ping-pong.
The
result
is
that
China
remains
the
best
in
the
sport.
But
even
in
Beijing,
where
public
sports
facilities
are
the
most
developed
in
the
country,
children
find
it
hard
to
get
a
chance
to
play
in
the
limited
number
of
soccer
fields.
If
the
government
wants
to
raise
the
level
of
soccer
in
China,
they
should
first
improve
the
soccer
facilities
in
the
country.

A.

B.

C.

D.

2.
What
can
we
infer
from
the
second
paragraph
A.
China
will
contribute
a
lot
to
the
development
of
football.
B.
Chinese
football
fans
are
the
most
influential
in
the
world.
C.
China’s
football
teams
will
improve
greatly
by
2026.
D.
China’s
Super
League
will
attract
the
best
football
players
in
the
world.
3.
Why
is
ping-pong
mentioned
in
the
last
paragraph
A.
To
show
how
well
the
Chinese
can
play
ping-pong.
B.
To
set
an
example
of
how
to
develop
a
sport
among
ordinary
people.
C.
To
attract
more
people
to
play
ping-pong.
D.
To
indicate
that
soccer
is
less
popular
than
ping-pong.

most
of
us,
swinging(摆动)360
degrees
around
the
spindle(轴)of
a
swing
set
is
a
distant
childhood
dream,
but
for
some
people
in
Estonia,
it’s
what
they
never
grow
out
of.
Not
only
do
they
still
love
struggling
against
gravity
(重力),but
they
actually
have
created
a
competitive
sport
around
their
favorite
entertainment.
That
sport
is
known
as
“kiiking”.
Swings
are
deep
in
Estonian
culture,
and
you
can
still
find
various
types
of
swings
in
villages
and
towns
all
around
the
country.
They
are
used
by
children
and
adults
alike,
either
for
simple
fun,or
as
a
way
for
communities
to
bond
during
celebrations.
So
maybe
it
doesn’t
come
as
a
big
surprise
that
Estonia
has
an
extreme
sport
based
on
swinging.
Some
people
see
it
as
dull,
others
as
pointless,
but
to
those
who
practice
it,
kiiking
is
the
coolest
thing
in
the
world.
The
rules
of
kiiking
are
pretty
simple.
Competitors
start
swinging
at
a
certain
height,
and
if
they
can
complete
a
full
circuit(圈)around
the
spindle,
they
can
try
to
do
the
same
after
the
swing
has
been
raised
a
little,
and
so
on.
Those
who
fail
to
do
a
full
spindle
are
left
with
the
result
of
their
last
successful
try.
Watching
kiiking
videos
might
give
you
the
impression
that
it’s
an
easy
sport,but
Laansalu,who
has
been
practicing
it
since
she
was
8
years
old,
says
it
requires
both
great
physical
strength一strong
legs
and
strong
arms一and
technique一knowing
when
to
stand
or
sit
in
the
swing
chair,
when
to
push
yourself
over
the
spindle
of
the
swing
and
how
to
avoid
injury.
Small
groups
of
kiikers
have
been
appearing
in
other
countries,
including
the
United
States,but
now
it
is
still
considered
as
an
Estonian
sport.
There
are
no
international
kiiking
competitions
yet,

Estonia
has
several

events
throughout
the
year.

that
he

started
researching
ways
to
get
Gobi

He
learned
that
it
would

for
Gobi

13答案及解析:
答案:1.an
2.healthy
3.receives
4.to
make
5.which
6.Pollution
7.teenagers
8.for
9.suffering
10.especially
解析:1.考查冠词。根据上下文可知,此处表泛指,且
important是以元音音素开头的,所以填不定冠词an。
2.考查形容词。所填词做系动词stay的表语,所以填health的形容词形式。
3.考查动词的时态。句子陈述的是一般事实,用一般现在时;且主语our
skin在此处是不可数名词,
所以谓语动词用第三人称单数形式。
4.考查非谓语动词。在本句中,it做makes
的形式宾语,真正的宾语是动词不定式。
5.考查定语从句引导词。根据语境和句子结构可知,所填词引导的是一个非限制性定语从句,且引导词指代前面整句话的内容,故填关系代词which。
6.考查名词。根据空格后的"and
clouds"可推测,此处应填pollute的名词形式。
7.考查名词单复数。根据语境可知,此处指的是许多的青少年,故填名词的复数形式。
8.考查介词。the
need
for…意为"对......的需要",是固定搭配。
9.考查非谓语动词。所填词做介词of的宾语,故填动名词。
10.考查副词。此处需填副词,修饰后面的介词短语。句意:不要在太阳光下站得太久,尤其是在夏天。
