Having more green space in a particular area means there are probably fewer 36. This gives people more chances to do some exercises outdoors and 37 with each other. We used numbers to calculate a result before, but now numbers are not only on behalf of (代表) a result. Numbers can be money on WeChat or Alipay, and also be instructions in programs, or be administrators in a company and so on. Now digital reading (数字化阅读) is quite common.
Digital reading doesn’t mean reading in numbers but reading on the electronic media. You can download the books that you want to read on the Internet with your phone or tablet PC. In this way, you can keep the books you like forever, and find the books you want to read quickly instead of looking for the books in the library step by step. In addition, you can read everywhere with your phone without a real book. If your eyes are tired, you can listen to the books. What’s more, it’s an environmental way.
Digital reading is also considered as a way of shallow reading by some writers. They think reading on paper can make people closer to the writer and understand the books better. For my part, if you are willing to read, any reading way you choose is the best and you can become a wise person.
( )44. What are numbers NOT on behalf of?
A. Administrators. B. A company. C. Money. D. Instructions.
( )45. What is Paragraph 2 mainly about?

( )48. Which of the following is the best title?
A. The ways of reading. B. Reading helpers.

Some people seem to have unusual memories. Zheng Aiqiang, a “memory athlete” on TV show Super Brain, can remember over 2,000 numbers in just one hour! You would think people like him must have special brains. But according to a recent study by researchers from America and Holland, the brain structure (结构) of ordinary people and 23 of the world’s leading memory athletes shows no difference.
Good memories can be trained. Zheng Aiqiang is a good example. New research in the magazine Neuron suggests that a person will get a super memory with just six weeks of hard training.
Researchers found that a technique (技巧) called loci, invented by the ancient Greeks, can greatly help improve memory.
By using loci, you are using your imagination to improve the brain’s memory networks. You can link something you need to remember with a place that you know very well. For example,to remember a list of numbers, imagine yourself walking through your house. Each thing is linked to a number. For example, zero could be the handle on the door and five could be the painting on the wall.In one study, some ordinary people were given 20 minutes to remember 72 nouns. In the beginning, they could only remember 26 words, but when they were taught loci, they could remember 62 words.“Not everyone can become a memory winner. But everyone using the technique can improve his or her memory greatly,” said Boris Konrad, one of the researchers in the study.
( )49. Why does Zheng Aiqiang have a good memory?
A. Because he was born with a special brain. B. Because it is from training.
C. Because his brain structure is different from ordinary people’s. D. Because he is a memory athlete.
( )50. How many days can an ordinary person need to be trained to have a good memory?
A. Fourteen days. B. Twenty-one days. C. Thirty days. D. Forty-two days.
( )51. What does the fifth paragraph mainly tell us?
A. How to use loci to memorize things. B. Whom the loci is for.
C. What kind of technique is the best. D. Why you should improve memory.
( )52. What’s important in improving your memory according to Paragraph 6?
A. Brain. B. Teachers. C. Loci. D. Numbers.
( )53. What’s the best title for the passage?
A. A memory athlete. B. A famous memory show.C. A memory study. D. Loci and memory.

According to American scientists, July 2019 was the hottest month on record worldwide. The average (平均的) temperature in July was about 1°C higher than the average of 15.78°C during the 20th century. That made it the hottest July on our planet over the past 140 years.
July 2019 was also the hottest month on record in the northwestern state of Alaska. Sea ice melted (融化). The fish swam in above-normal temperatures, and so did children in the city of Nome, Alaska.
Sea ice off Alaska’s north and northwest coast and other Arctic areas shrank (收缩) to the lowest level ever recorded for July. Sea ice is home to polar bears and a place for walruses to rest. Several thousand walruses arrived along the coastline on July 30. That was the first time that people saw them in such large numbers before August.
Alaska’s wildfire season started in April. It was earlier than usual. July’s dry and hot weather it. An expected rainy season didn’t come on time. It extended the wild&e season through the month of July.
