第二部分:阅读理解(共两节,满分40分)
第一节(共15小题;
每小题2分,共30分)
请阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该选项的标号涂黑。
A
I
waited
in
line
for
hours
in
Central
Park
for
tickets
to
Shakespeare,
so
I
could
share
my
experience
with
you.
I
hope
my
experience
will
be
helpful
to
you!
1.
Plan
for
the
weather.
You’ll
be
sitting
outside
for
several
hours
waiting
for
tickets.
If
it’s
going
to
be
a
sunny
day,
bring
sun
cream
and
water.
If
you
think
it
might
rain,
bring
your
umbrella
or
raincoat.
If
the
day
promises
to
be
unseasonably
cool,
you’ll
be
happy
you’ve
brought
a
sweater
or
jacket
along.
2.
Keep
yourself
entertained.
Bring
an
iPad,
a
good
book,
some
magazines
or
even
some
work
along
with
you
to
pass
the
time.
You’ll
be
in
line
for
about
3-4
hours,
and
you’ll
be
glad
to
have
a
crossword
puzzle
or
other
games
to
kill
the
time
once
the
people-watching
starts
to
get
boring.
3.
Know
the
basics.
Free
tickets
are
being
given
out
for
the
same
day’s
performance
and
they
are
not
changeable.
That
means
if
it
rains,
you’re
out
of
luck.
That
also
means
that
you
have
to
wait
for
tickets
in
the
morning
and
attend
the
evening’s
performance
the
same
night
(Doors
open
around
8
p.m.
for
the
8:30
p.m.
show.).
4.
Feeling
fortunate
Enter
the
online
ticket
lottery(抽签获票).
If
you
don’t
want
to
spend
several
hours
waiting
in
line
for
tickets,
you
can
try
your
luck
on
the
Internet.
Once
you
set
up
your
account,
you
can
enter
the
online
ticket
lottery
between
midnight
and
noon.
You’ll
get
an
email
message
around
noon
if
you’ve
gotten
tickets,
and
you
can
pick
up
your
tickets
at
the
Delacorte
Theater
between
5:30
pm
and
7:30
pm.

the
passage

line.
C.To
call
on
us
to

D.To
give
practical
advice
about

B
I
was
selfish
as
a
teenager.I
usually
spent
my
time
thinking
about
myself
and
taking
care
of
my
own
needs.I
let
my
older
brother
do
most
of
the
work
around
the
house
until
he
left
for
college.I
let
my
mom
and
dad
worry
about
our
bills
and
problems
while
I
read
books,
played,
and
lost
myself
in
my
own
imagination.This
didn't
change
even
when
I
went
to
college
either.I
studied
hard
but
only
to
make
my
own
life
better.
Even
when
I
started
to
explore
my
faith,
it
was
only
to
increase
my
own
happiness.
I
married
after
graduation
and
decided
to
start
a
family.Of
course,
I
had
no
idea
what
hard
knocks
reality
had
in
store
for
my
selfish
soul.Soon
I
found
myself
unemployed,
deeply
in
debt,
and
with
a
new
baby
on
the
way.l
found
out
that
life
has
little
sympathy
for
spoiled
people.In
fact,
all
of
the
struggles
I
was
going
through
were
beating
the
selfishness
slowly
out
of
me.
Still,I
didn't
give
up
on
happiness.I
knew
that
there
must
be
a
way
to
find
it.I
finally
realized,
however,
that
it
had
to
include
more
than
just
my
own
needs,
wants,
and
desires.The
answer
began
to
make
itself
clear
one
night
shortly
after
my
baby
boy
was
born.I
got
a
bottle
and
held
him
in
my
arms.As
I
was
feeding
him
I
looked
down
and
saw
his
big,
innocent,
trusting
eyes.I
smiled
and
talked
to
him.Then
he
smiled
and
I
could
feel
my
heart
growing,
expanding
with
love.I
felt
such
peace
and
joy.At
that
moment
I
had
a
hint
of
the
truth:
it
is
by
growing
our
hearts
with
love
that
we
find
our
happiness.
Carolyn
Arends
wrote:"The
more
people
you
let
into
your
heart,
the
bigger
your
heart
gets.The
more
love
you
get,
the
more
love
you
have
to
give.It
just
keeps
growing."
So,
keep
loving,
keep
living
and
keep
caring.
Keep
growing
your
heart
today,
tomorrow,
and
always.

London
Underground
The
world's
first
subway
was
built
in
London
in
1863.
At
the
time,
the
government
was
looking
for
a
way
to
reduce
traffic
problems
in
the
city
of
London.
The
poor
areas
of
the
city
were
so
crowded
with
people
that
it
was
almost
impossible
for
horse
carriages
to
get
through.
The
city
officials
were
interested
in
trying
to
make
it
possible
for
workers
to
live
outside
of
London
and
travel
easily
to
work
each
day.
If
people
had
a
cheap
and
convenient
way
that
they
could
depend
on
to
go
to
and
from
work,
they
would
relocate
their
homes
outside
of
the
city.
This
would
help
ease(减轻)
the
pressure
of
too
many
people
living
in
the
poor
parts
of
London.
From
these
problems,
the
idea
of
the
London
Underground,
the
first
subway
system,
was
born.
The
plans
for
building
the
Underground
met
with
several
problems
and
delays,
but
the
fast
track
was
finally
opened
in
January
1863.
A
steam
train
pulled
the
cars
along
the
fast
underground
track
which
was
6
kilometers
(3.7
miles)
long.
About
30,000
people
got
on
the
subway
the
first
day.
Riders
were
treated
to
comfortable
seats
(standing
up
while
the
train
was
moving
was
not
allowed),
and
pleasant
decorations
inside
each
of
the
cars.
However,
the
smoke
from
the
engine
soon
filled
the
air
in
the
tunnels
with
ash
and
soot(煤灰),
as
well
as
chemical
gases.
Fans
had
to
be
put
in
the
tunnels
later
to
keep
the
air
clean
enough
for
people
to
breathe.
Even
with
its
problems,
riding
in
the
Underground
did
catch
on.
It
carried
9
million
riders
in
its
first
year.
28.What

government
to

and
pollution.
C.Overcrowding
and
traffic
jams.
D.The
poverty
and
subway
problems.
29.How
did
the
London
Underground
solve
the
smoke
problem
A.It
made
the
tunnels
larger.
B.It
put
fans
in
the
tunnels.
C.It
cleaned
the
chemical
gases
in
the
tunnels.
D.It
reduced
the
number
of
passengers
riding
in
the
train.

31.Which
of
the

so
many
problems
and
delays
that
in
18th
century
the
first
subway
opened.
C.The

eased
the
pressure
of
traffic.

D
Why
elephants
rarely
get
cancer
is
a
mystery
that
has
confused
scientists
for
decades.
A
study
was
led
by
researchers
at
Huntsman
Cancer
Institute
(HCI)
at
the
University
of
Utah
and
Arizona
State
University,
including
researchers
from
the
Ringling
Bros.
Center
for
Elephant
Conservation
may
have
found
the
answer.
According
to
the
results,
elephants
have
38
additional
modified
copies
of
a
gene
(基因)
that
encodes
p53,
a
well-defined
tumor
(肿瘤)
suppressor,
as
compared
to
humans,
who
have
only
two.
Further,
elephants
may
have
a
more
powerful
mechanism
for
killing
damaged
cells
that
are
at
risk
for
becoming
cancerous.
In
isolated
elephant
cells,
this
activity
is
doubled
compared
to
healthy
human
cells,
and
five
times
that
of
cells
from
patients
with
Li-Fraumeni
Syndrome,
who
have
only
one
working
copy
of
p53
and
more
than
a
90
percent
lifetime
cancer
risk
in
children
and
adults.
The
results
suggest
extra
p53
could
explain
elephants’
increased
resistance
to
cancer.
“Nature
has
already
figured
out
how
to
prevent
cancer.
It’s
up
to
us
to
learn
how
different
animals
overcome
the
problem
so
we
can
adapt
those
strategies
to
prevent
cancer
in
people,”
says
co-senior
author
Joshua
Schiffman,
M.D.,
pediatric
oncologist
(肿瘤学家)
at
Huntsman
Cancer
Institute,
University
of
Utah
School
of
Medicine,
and
Primary
Children’s
Hospital.
According
to
Schiffman,
elephants
have
long
been
considered
a
walking
problem.
Because
they
have
100
times
as
many
cells
as
people,
they
should
be
100
times
more
likely
to
have
a
cell
slip
into
a
cancerous
state
and
cause
the
disease
over
their
long
life
span
of
50
to
70
years.
And
yet
it’s
believed
that
elephants
get
cancer
less
often,
a
theory
confirmed
in
this
study.
Analysis
of
a
large
database
of
elephant
deaths
estimates
a
cancer
death
rate
of
less
than
5
percent
compared
to
11
to
25
percent
in
people.
32.Why
do
humans
often
get
cancer
compared
to
elephants
according
to
the
passage
A.Elephants
are
bigger
than
humans.
B.Elephants
have
more
p53
than
humans.
C.Elephants
are
not
as
clever
as
humans.
D.Elephants
eat
more
than
humans.
33.Which
of
the
following
is
right
according
to
the
passage
A.Some
damaged
cells
may
be
dangerous.
B.Some
damaged
cells
are
not
dangerous.
C.Some
damaged
cells
can’t
be
cancerous.
D.Some
damaged
cells
in
elephants’
bodies
are
more
dangerous
than
those
in
humans’
bodies.
34.What
can
we
know
from
the
last
paragraph
A.Elephants
have
more
cells
than
people.
B.Elephants
can
get
cancer
easily.
C.Elephants
seldom
die
from
cancer.
D.Elephants
often
die
from
cancer.
35.Which
of
the
following
can
be
the
best
title
for
the
passage
A.Elephants
help
us
B.Learn
from
Nature
C.How
to
deal
with
cancer
D.Nature

Time
is
something
that
we
all
are
taking
for
granted
these
days.
We
spend
hours
watching
TV
or
playing
mobile
games,
thinking
that
this
is
just
normal.
I
find
this
a
waste
of
time.
36.
Every
second
is
valuable
and
we
should
rethink
of
ways
of
spending
our
time.
Firstly,
spend
time
in
doing
things
that
really
matter.
Spend
time
with
your
family
and
friends.
Enjoy
a
nice
hot
meal
and
eat
it
slowly.
Give
yourself
time
to
play
and
spend
enough
time
in
sleeping.
37.But
the
truth
is
the
little
things
matter
most
in
life.
Secondly,
you
have
to
know
what
is
done
cannot
be
undone.
Do
not
allow
your
mind
to
stay
in
the
past.
Every
day
is
a
new
adventure.
38.It
may
not
be
an
opportunity
like
an

Returning
from
a
trip
overseas,
I
sensed
that
something
was
wrong
between
Keith,
one
of
my
two
sons,
and
me.
So
I
asked
him,
“Keith,
have
I
done
anything
that
really
41
your
feelings ”
Immediately,
he
said,
“Yes.
Last
Christmas
you
promised
us
a
special
42
that
we
really
wanted
but
you
43
gave
it
to
us.
The
44
was
that
I’d
completely
forgotten
about
it.
I
45
,
“Is
there
anything
else
I’ve
done
wrong,
but
I
haven’t
apologized
for ”
Again,
his
46
was
immediate,
“Remember
last
Christmas
when
Mom
said
you
had
to
go
to
the
47
because
Kate,
my
little
sister,
was
going
to
be
born
You
left
us
at
home
and
48
in
a
hurry.
Remember ”
“Well,
you
left
and
49
the
suitcase.”
I
couldn’t
believe
he
50
all
the
details!
“After
you
came
back
from
the
hospital,
you
were
51
to
see
the
suitcase
had
been
opened
and
52
had
been
thrown
all
over
the
place,
and
then
you
53
me.”
“And
you
didn’t
do
it ”
I
asked.
“No,
I
didn’t.
I
was
just
searching
for
my
gift.”
My
heart
sank.
I
felt
54
.
I
hugged
Keith
and
asked
him
to
55
me.
His
honesty
made
me
think
of
my
other
son,
Kevin.
Maybe
I’d
hurt
his
feelings,
too.
I
went
to
ask
him
the
56
question.
Kevin
answered
as
immediately
as
his
57
,
“Last
Christmas
you
58
us
a
special
toy,
but
you
forgot
about
it.”
59
Christmas
had
passed,
I
took
my
two
sons
to
the
store
that
day
and
bought
them
what
I
had
promised.
The
60
thing
wasn’t
the
toy.
The
problem
was
I’d
made
a
promise
too
lightly
and
didn’t
keep
it
as
their
father.

Dear
Tom,
How
is
everything
going
Since
you
are
interested
in
the
shadow
play,
I'd
like
to
introduce
them
to
you.
As
the
traditional
Chinese
folk
art,
the
shadow
play
has
been
existed
in
China
for
centuries.
It
dates
back
to
the
Han
Dynasty,
where
Emperor
Liu
Che
lost
his
beloved
wife
Li.
Depressing
about
her
death,
he
even
ignores
the
state
affairs,
worrying
his
officials.
Then
they
made
a
puppet
with
the
image
of
Li
but
performed
before
the
Emperor.
He
was
too
pleased
that
he
asked
them
to
spread
the
art
form.
Unfortunately,
it
is
becoming
more
attractive
due
to
the
impact
of
modern
media.
Both
Chinese
artists
and
the
government
are
making
joint
efforts
conserve
the
ancient
art
form.
If
you
want
to
know
more,
don't
hesitate
to
contact
me.
Best
wishes.

作文
Dear
Alex,
Hearing
that
you
will
return
to
your
country
soon,
I
feel
a
bit
upset.
But
meanwhile,
I
want
to
send
my
sincere
gratitude
for
your
kind
help
with
my
English
learning.
I
still
remember
what
you
have
devoted
to
improving
my
oral
English
and
English
writing.
Besides,
you
also
frankly
shared
your
learning
experience
with
me.
Additionally,
without
your
help,
I
would
not
have
been
a
top
student
in
English
and
would
not
have
won
the
English
Speech
Contest.
All
in
all,
words
fail
to
express
my
thankfulness
to
you.
I
do
hope
that
you
will
have
a
bright
future
and
that
our
friendship
will
last
forever!
Yours,
Li
