词句精讲精练

词汇精讲
1. practise
practise 作动词,意为“练习,实践”。既可以作及物动词,又可以作不及物动词。其后可以接名词、代词或动词-ing形式。practise doing sth.“练习做某事”。例如: My little brother practises the piano every day. 我的小弟弟每天弹钢琴。
Do you often practise playing football after school?你经常放学后练习踢足球吗? 【拓展】能接V-ing作宾语的动词还有:finish, enjoy, mind, keep等。
finish doing sth. 结束做某事 enjoy doing sth. 喜欢做某事
mind doing sth. 介意做某事 keep doing sth. 一直做某事
2. match
(1)match作动词,意为“和……较量;相配;和……相匹配”。例如:
Match the words with the pictures. 把词语和图片搭配起来。
Match yourself against experts in the competition. 在这次的比赛中和专家较量一下吧。
(2)match是可数名词,意为“比赛;火柴”,其复数形式为matches。例如:
Who won the football match? 谁赢了那场足球赛?
Here is a box of matches for lighting the fire. 这里有一盒火柴可用来点火。
3. look up
look up 意为“(在词典或参考书中)查阅,检查”,其后跟名词作宾语,名词可放在look和up之间,也可放在look up 之后;如果代词作宾语,则只能放在look和up之间。
例如:Look up the word in the book, and you will know its meaning.
在书中查查这个词,你就知道它的意思了。
Please look them up in the dictionary carefully.
请仔细在词典中查一下它们。
4. time
(1)time 意为“时间”时,是不可数名词。此时,不能用many, few或 a few来修饰,
而用much, little 或 a little 等来修饰。例如:
There is little time left, please hurry up. 几乎没有时间了,请快点。
(2)time当“次数、倍数”讲时,是可数名词,复数是times。例如:
His house is three times bigger than hers. 他的房子比她的大三倍。
How many times have you read the book? 这本书你读了多少遍了?
【拓展】有关time的常用短语:
at that time 在那时 at the same time 同时 by the time 到……为止 have a good time 玩得高兴 in time 及时 on time 按时 every time 每次
5. advice
advice是不可数名词,意为“意见、建议、劝告、忠告”,不能与不定冠词a /an连用。
例如:
a piece of advice一条建议
Let me give you some advice. 让我给你一些建议。
【拓展】
(1)give advice (on) 给……提(有关……)的建议。例如:
Can you give me some advice on how to learn English well?
你能给我一些关于如何学好英语的建议吗?
(2)take one’s advice 听从某人的建议 例如:
I’ll take your advice, and do exercise every day.
我会听从你的建议,每天锻炼身体。
(3)advise是advice的动词形式,意为“建议”,常用于advise sb. to do sth.的结构中。例如:
He advised me to read English every morning.
他建议我每天早晨读英语。
6. key
(1)key 作形容词,意为“关键性的,非常重要的”。例如:
Please pay attention to the key words in the sentence.
请注意句子中的关键词。
(2)key 作名词,意为“钥匙”,当表示“……的钥匙”时,后面要用介词“to”。例如:
the key to the door 门钥匙
the key to the car 车钥匙
(3)key 还可以当“答案,解释”讲。表示“……的答案”时,后面也要跟介词“to”; 此时与“answer”同义。
例如:the key to the question 问题的答案
the key to the exercise 练习的答案
7. ask for
ask for 后接宾语(something),意为“请求某事,要某物”,相当于want sth. 例如:
Please ask for help if you have some problems. 如果你有问题,请寻求帮助。
【拓展】ask的其他常用结构:
(1)ask sb. about sth.意为“询问某人有关某事;向某人打听某事”。例如:
My father often calls me up and asks me about my study.
爸爸经常给我打电话,询问我的学习情况。
(2)ask sb. sth. “问某人某事”。例如:
Can I ask you some questions? 我能问你一些问题吗?
(3)ask sb. to do sth.“让某人做某事”,其否定形式为ask sb. not to do sth.“让某人不要做某事”。例如:
I often ask him to help me with my housework. 我经常让他帮助我做家务。
My mother asked me not to read in the sun. 妈妈让我不要在太阳下看书。
(4)ask sb. for sth.“向某人要某物”。例如:
If you don’t find the way to the school, please ask a policeman for help.
如果你找不到去学校的路,请向警察求助。
8. place
(1)place作名词,意为“地方, 场所, 所在地”,也指某人或某物所占的特定的空间,是可数名词。例如:
This is the place where the storm hit. 这就是暴风雨袭击的地方。
We must find a place for this new picture. 我们必须找到空地方挂这幅画。
(2)place 作动词,意为“放置,安排”。例如:
The agency placed about 200 secretaries per annum.
该代理机构每年大约安排200份秘书工作。
Place the chairs into the living room.
把这些椅子放到客厅去。

句式精讲
1. I agree with you.
agree with表示 “同意;赞成”,常用搭配为:agree with +sb / what sb said 例如:
Do you agree with me about the need for more schools?
关于多建一些学校一事, 你同意我的意见吗?
I quite agree with what you said. 我很同意你说的话。 ?
【拓展】
agree with和agree to(to为介词)都表示“同意,赞同”,但后面所接的宾语不同。agree with后接指人或表示意见、看法的词;agree to后接表示建议、计划、安排之类的词。例如:
I quite agree with you. 我很同意你(的意见)。
Do you agree with what I have said? 你同意我所说的话吗?
He has agreed to our suggestion about the holiday. 他已经同意我们度假的建议了。
2. How about…?
How about…?= What about …?,是一个用来提建议或者征求别人意见的句式,有时也可以用来询问某人的身体状况或者近况。其中的about是介词,因此后面要跟名词,代词或者动名词来做宾语。例如:
How (What) about the fruit? 那水果呢?
How (What) about going swimming? 去游泳怎么样?
How (What) about your holiday? 你的假期怎么样?
How (What) about your mother? 你妈妈怎么样?
【拓展】常见的其他表示建议的句式:
(1)Shall we…? 我们……好吗?
例如:Shall we go out for a walk? 我们一起去散步好吗?
(2)Why don’t you…? / Why not…? 为什么不……呢?例如:
Why don’t you go swimming? = Why not go swimming? 为什么不去游泳呢?
(3)You’d better (not) do… 最好(不要)…… 例如:
You’d better ask your parents first. 你最好先问问你的父母。
You’d better not be late for class. 你最好不要迟到。
(4)“Let’s do sth.”意为“让我们……吧。”主要用来提出建议和请求, 劝对方一起做,包括听话者在内。它的否定式是“Let’s not do sth.”,意为“让我们不做某事”。例如:
Let’s play games together. 我们一起做游戏吧。
Let’s not tell anyone. 我们谁也别告诉。
3. I suggest you write four or five words a day on pieces of paper…
本句中的“you write four or five words a day on pieces of paper…”作动词suggest的宾语,是一个省略了引导词that的宾语从句。suggest后面的宾语从句,谓语动词用“should+动词原形”,should可以省略不写。例如:
She suggested that the class meeting (should) not be held on Saturday.
她建议班会不要在星期六举行。
We suggested that he (should) go and make an apology to his teacher.
我们建议他去向老师道歉。
【拓展】suggest的其他常见用法:
(1)可接名词做宾语。例如:
We suggested a visit to the museum the next day.
我们建议明天去参观博物馆。
(2)可接动名词做宾语。例如:
I suggested putting off the sports meet.
我建议将运动会延期。
They suggested waiting until the proper time.
他们建议(我们)等到恰当的时机才行动。
(3)suggest 也表示“提出”的意思。例如:
He suggested a different plan to his boss.
他向老板提出了一个不同的计划。
Xiao Wang suggested a way to solve the problem.
小王提出了一个解决这个问题的办法。
4. You should invite your new English-speaking friends to our club!
invite sb. to some place邀请某人去某地 例如:
Why don’t you invite them to our school? 为什么不邀请他们来我们学校?
【拓展】invite常用于下列结构:
(1)invite sb. 邀请某人 例如:
Do you invite the friends in Beijing? 你邀请北京的朋友了吗?
(2)invite sb. to dinner邀请某人吃饭 例如:

(3)invite sb. to do sth. 邀请某人做某事 例如:

5. I’m shy and I’m afraid to speak to her.
(1)be afraid表示“害怕做某事”或“不敢做某事”,be afraid 之后可接不定式,也可接名词、代词或of doing sth。例如:
She was afraid to tell you. 她害怕告诉你。
She is afraid of going out alone late at night. 她很怕深夜独自外出。
I’m afraid of the dog. 我怕狗。
(2)但若要表示担心可能会发生某事,则只能用 be afraid of doing...而不能用 be afraid to do...。例如:
I’m afraid of being late for class. 我担心上课迟到。
(3)be afraid后可接that从句。
He is afraid that his father will be unhappy.
他担心他的爸爸会不高兴。
