Procedure
Steps Activities Purposes
Warm up: Let’s chant: ask Ss to chant together; chant with actions What’s missing: T: now, let’s play a game. Look at this picture carefully, then tell me what’s missing. (make an example for Ss) Review the words: face, mouth, eye, ear, nose, head; Lead into today’s topic.
Presentation: T: do you remember this song? (guide Ss to say the song name: one little finger) now, let’s sing together. Show me your fingers. Are you ready? Play the video. T: look at this picture, can you tell me what’s this? (point at finger) Ss: finger. T: yes, very good. read after me: finger, finger. (make every student read the words) Teach the words: hand, arm, leg, foot as the same. (can ask Ss to do the actions: clap your hands, stamp your feet) Introduce today’s new words: leg,arm,hand, finger,foot
Learning: Match game: First, show them the ppt, and ask them what’s this, to guide Ss to say the words. Then, invite some Ss to match the word cards with the right place. Robot game: T: now, let’s play another game. Do you remember him? What’s his name? (Ss: Andy.) now, you should listen carefully and tell me what did you hear. Are you ready? Play the radio. T: what does Andy say? (Ss: touch your nose.) What does the robot say? (Ss: this is my nose.) T: ok, now I’m Andy, you are robots. When I say “touch your mouth”, you should put your finger on your mouth and say “this is my mouth”, understand? Ask some students to be “little teacher” and invite each group to the stage to show their actions. Help students consolidate the words and the sentence structure.
Application: Freezing game T: you can make a pose (point at their nose, mouth…) and when I walk to your side, you should say “this is my nose, mouth…” and then I will show you a picture, you must say the right word. Only when you all right, you can move your body, ok? Make students be familiar with today’s words and sentence.
Extension: Pair work T: you should work with your partner to introduce your body, I will give you 2mins. Make an example for them. Help students to improve their spoken English.
Summary:Today we review six words: head, face, eye, nose, ear, mouth; and learn the five new words: finger, leg, foot, arm, hand. On this lesson, we also help students be familiar with the sentence pattern “Touch your… / This is my…”.
