Part B
M: Anna, you’re Spanish, aren’t you?
W: Yes, I am.
M: And how long have you lived here in Oxford?
W: Er … 23 years.
M: How did that happen?
W: Well, I wanted to improve my English so I came to England to study. Originally, I came for 6 months, but I met my husband — er, we met at the college — actually we met on the way to the college, in the street.
(1) 学生问:You met in the street?
录音答:Yes. It was my first day and I was walking up the hill to the college and Teo, that’s my husband, was driving up the hill and he stopped and offered me a lift, which I refused, but we ended up in the same class. Teo is from Bolivia.
(2) 学生问:Why did you decide to live in England?
录音答:Well, mainly because my husband had a job here. We always spent 2 or 3 weeks in Spain in summer since we got married. But we only went to Bolivia once when my son Xabier was 18 months old. James — that’s Xabier’s younger brother, has never been there.
(3) 学生问:What are your sons doing now?
录音答:Xabier’s at university and James has just finished school. He’s been working in a restaurant saving money to travel. He’s going to travel to Bolivia. Then he’s going to university to study biology.

Part C
One day, Peter went out to look for a job. As he was passing his neighbor’s house, an important piece of paper fell out of the man’s pocket.
His neighbor Bob happened to be looking out the window. He saw the piece of paper fall, and he thought he was trying to mess up the front of his house.
But instead of going out and saying something, Bob made a plan. That night, he took his waste-paper basket and threw the paper in front of Peter’s house. Peter also happened to be looking out the window, and saw what happened. Later, when he was picking up the paper, he found the important piece of paper that he had lost.
Peter was happy and went to Bob’s house to say thank you. Bob realized that it had all been a misunderstanding. If he had talked to Peter on the first occasion, the misunderstanding would be avoided.
