Completing any personal goal in time is challenging. And it always seems that you won’t have enough time to finish all you need to do. Do you know how to use your time better to achieve your goal? Here are some tips which may help you.
Focus on(集中) one thing at a time. Remember not to take on too many goals at a time, or your energy will be used up soon. Once one goal is finished you can go to the next one. Set up at least a month per goal.
Prioritize(优先处理)the most important. We have more than one thing to complete. If we put all the things before our goal, we won’t ever find the time for it. If we put our goal at the first place, we’ll make the time.
Keep your goal simple. It’s important not to make your goal too difficult. If you want to be slim, for example, you just need to develop the habit for your health, walking each day (or running, or cycling etc), drinking more water, eating fruits and vegetables instead of junk snacks.
Close your door. Try to set a time that you won’t be disturbed (打扰). If you are disturbed from time to time, you really don't have the time to help out. So you must shut your door when working on the most important tasks. If so, you will get them done better.
Stop wasting time. In our daily life, there are many things wasting your time, such as watching drama series and going to bars. If you don’t do them, it won’t make a great difference to your life. So stop doing them to free up time for your goals.
If you follow the above, you will succeed to achieve your goal

Two days ago, I had taken a test in Biology, and I knew that I would get my scores in the same class today.
After the bell rang, every student sat in his or her seat impatiently. Then, one by one, the
teacher called our names.
As each paper was given back to the correct student, the front of the answer paper would always be turned to face the ground and the paper itself would be slightly folded (折叠) to prevent anyone from seeing.
In fact, folding each test paper is a way to make sure that each student sees only his or her own scores. The scores are seen as private information not to be announced or shown to others. As a way to keep the students' score records secret, each student is given an online account (帐号) with which to check his or her grades posted on the official school website.
Protecting students' private information always comes first in US schools that want to free students from unnecessary pressure. School reports are guarded closely to prevent poor grades from damaging a student's dignity and reputation (尊严和声誉), which are for himself or herself only.
However, some insist that although students' feelings and self-dignity are easily hurt, they cannot be forever protected. They say that school also teach their students to make themselves stronger in mind, and the classroom should show the reality of competition in society. Scores that everyone can see might better encourage students to work harder to be better than others.

We brush our teeth every day but few people know how well we’re brushing. Today, a French company has introduced an electric toothbrush, which can work wirelessly(无线地) with a smart phone. It’s called the Kolibree toothbrush. It has different models, and will cost from $99 to $200.
Users download an app and connect via Bluetooth, and the Kolibree will record 1) the time you spent brushing teeth, 2) whether all areas of your mouth are reached, 3) whether you brush up and down instead of just side to side. Then it will send the information to a mobile phone via Bluetooth, telling you whether you have brushed in a proper way. The Kolibree app records your progress and scores your brushing way to help you improve brushing habits.
The toothbrush will also be able to talk to other apps on your phone, so developers could create a game controlled by your toothbrush. That would be very interesting.
The Kolibree toothbrush was invented by Thomas Serval. He says the idea of inventing it came from his experience as a father. He would come home from work and ask his kids if they had brushed their teeth. They always answered “yes”, but Thomas used to find their toothbrush heads dry. He decided that a kind of brush was needed to tell him how well they brushed their teeth.
Thomas says that one day, it’ll be possible to use a brushing unit with a camera. The camera can even examine holes in your teeth while you brush.

What do we really mean by being open? Being open is a kind of invitation to others to come in, to speak and to share. It is important in letting others get to know how we think and feel. In this way we will be understood and accepted by others. If we aren’t open with others, we won’t fully believe in ourselves or others.
Here are a few ways for you to be more open. First, make your outside behavior the same with your inside feelings and thoughts. Second, share how you really feel about something instead of just opinions. Third, try to change your questions into statements(陈述句) and talk in the first person so that people will understand you more easily. For example, you might say, “I feel happy that you’re here,” instead of, “Are you glad that you’re here?” Finally, try not to say, “I don’t know.” This usually means I don’t want to think about it anymore.
Remember also that it is not suitable to be open with everyone in every situation. You may want to be more open with close friends, but not with people you don’t know well, because you are not sure how someone else will use what they know about you. Besides, some people may not be used to too much openness. If we say everything we feel or think to them, they will feel very uncomfortable at times.
In all, being open is a good way for us to get on well with other people, but we’d better keep the balance between being open and not being too open.

Bamboo is a kind of wild grass. There are more than 1450 species of bamboo that grow across the world. It is hollow(空的), so it is very light.
For thousands of years, bamboo has been used in many different ways—from food to medicine to clothing. It is also used for furniture or man-made building products such as flooring and window covers. However, bamboo is not often used as a building material in the developed world.
Kent Harries, a professor at the University of Pittsburgh, sees bamboo as a great building material because of the following.
First, it is strong. The strength of at least three species of bamboo is similar to steel. Besides its strength, Harries says that bamboo has other features that make it a great building material. He says it can keep its shape and strength even under pressure.
Second, it’s very tall. It can grow up to 20 meters and it supports its own weight, even in the strong wind.
Third, bamboo also grows quickly. Bamboo that is suitable for construction needs much less resources than wood. It lives on the rainwater, spring water and sunlight. The harvest cycle of bamboo is about 3 years. Softwoods such as pine (松树) and spruce(云杉) have a harvest cycle of about 10 years. And hardwoods that come from flowering plants such as maple(枫树) and walnut(胡桃树) need more than 30 years.
People usually think bamboo is only for poor people. But in many countries, bamboo is used for building floors and roofs and even beautiful houses.

China leads in innovation
At 9 am on Sept 21, a fully loaded high-speed train left Beijing for Shanghai. Seconds later when the screen showed a speed of 350 km/h, excited passengers held up their cameras and cellphones to take photos.
The train is China’s newest high-speed train, Fuxing. It’s now the fastest train in the world.
There were 2,595 high-speed trains running across China by 2016, taking up 60 percent of the world’s total high-speed trains. Chinese companies have also built more than 10 high-speed railways in Europe, Southeast Asia and South America. Overseas, the high-speed train has become a new name card for China.
Besides the high-speed train, many other innovations (创新) have also changed people’s lives in China.
Bike sharing, for example, is not new itself. But China has made it much more convenient and popular. Because of companies like Ofo and Mobike, you can just get on a bike wherever you want and ride until you find an interesting new area. Shared bikes are also a environmentally-friendly way to get some exercise. Months ago, the Chinese bike-sharing companies Mobike and Ofo went to Singapore and Britain. Users there were excited and posted photos of themselves riding the bikes on social media.
But that’s not all. Suppose you are riding a bike on the street and stop to buy a bottle of water. When you reach into your pocket, you find that you have left your wallet at home. Don’t worry. It’s not a problem if you’re in China. You could just pay with your cellphone by scanning a quick respond code (QR, 二维码) from the seller.
Cashless payment (无现金支付) has become a lifestyle choice in China. Even a street stall (摊位) selling fruit has QR codes. You can spend a whole day in a big city without any cash or bankcards while it is something you cannot imagine doing in Europe.
High speed trains, bike sharing and cashless payment ... Although these are not invented by the Chinese, China is the world leader in using these technologies. They are rapidly changing the lives of people in China and shaping modern society. It seems that China is really leading in some ways. And we have every reason to believe in an even brighter future.
Innovations High-speed trains China’s high-speed trains had taken up three 76 of the world’s total by 2016. 77 them, Fuxing, which can run at a speed of 350 km/h, is the fastest. Also, China has been 78 for high-speed trains overseas.
Bike 79 Although it was not 80 by Chinese, we’ve made it more popular and convenient. you can ride a bike at 81 place you want and it can also help protect the 82 .
Cashless payment Many Chinese have been 83 to paying with cellphones just by scanning a QR.
Conclusion China has 84 in using these technologies and we do have confidencein a 85 future.

Self-respect is of great importance to a great life. Self-respect is a feeling of being happy about one’s characters, abilities and beliefs. If we are short of self-respect, we will be unsafe. Developing self-respect means developing self-confidence to deal with whatever life throws at us. The following are some ways we can improve our self-respect.
A real self-respect is important that you believe in your own values and remember what is important to you. Everyone needs to follow his or her own path. Even if others don’t respect your decision, it is important that you do.

Jealousy(嫉妒) of other people’s success is a common way of losing our happiness and self-respect. Jealousy is simply envy of other people’s success. We feel unhappy when we cannot enjoy their success. The truth is that there will always be some people more successful than us. The method for lasting self-respect is to be happy with others’ success.
If you have no respect for others, how can you have self-respect? It isn’t right to feel better by putting others down. If we look for good qualities in other people, it is easier to remember the good qualities in ourselves.
