"Make-A-Wish" is one of the world's most well-known charities(慈善机构). It makes wishes come true for children who have serious illnesses. It gives them hope and joy and helps them forget about their health problems and have fun.
It all started in 1980 in Phoenix, Arizona. Christopher was a 7-year-old boy who was very sick. He always dreamed of becoming a police officer. Tommy Austin and Ron Cox, two police officers, made his wish come true. They gave Christopher a tour of the city in a police helicopter(直升飞机) and made a real police uniform(制服) for him.
There are four kinds of wishes children usually have:
I wish to go. Children usually want to travel or go to a concert, a game or a park.
I wish to meet. Children sometimes want to meet their favourite actors, singers or players.
I wish to be. Some children wish to become actors, singers or police officers.
I wish to have. They often want to have a computer, a game, a bike or many other things.
Let's hope more wishes will come true in the future. People who work in the charity always try for the best. Almost 25,000 volunteers(志愿者) help, work or give money. Will you be one of them?

Whether their kids are just starting kindergarten or entering the final year of high school, there are many good reasons for parents to volunteer at school. It's a great way to show your kids that you take an interest in their education.
Many schools now have to raise their own funds for activities and parent volunteers are important to organize and help these fundraising events and other school activities.
Parent volunteers offer a huge resource and a great support for the school community(社区) while showing their kids the importance of taking part in the larger community.
Not only will parent volunteers be helpful to the school—but to you, too. By talking with teachers, headmasters, and other parents from time to time, you'll get a firsthand understanding of your child's everyday activities. You'll also get to know the trend and fashion of the school life that can help you communicate with your kids as they grow and change.
Even if you haven't been involved in the past, it's never too late to start. In fact, it may be more important than ever to get involved when kids reach high school. Many parents volunteered a lot of time during their kids' elementary years. However, they return to full-time jobs by the time their kids go to high school, so there's often a shortage in the middle schools.

For a baby, to be born on a plane might be a lucky thing. Just a few days ago, a mother gave birth to a baby boy on a plane of Buraq Air and the new baby didn’t need to pay for the air tickets for a lifetime from the air company.
The new mother was on a flight (航班)from Libya to Niger. For some people, being born on a plane sounds a bit strange and even a bit dangerous. But luckily the child was healthily born with the help of the flight’s workers. To thank the workers on the plane, the excited mother decided to give her baby the same name as the captain (机长). Burap Air is in Libya and the air company offers flights to Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.
This isn’t the first time a baby was born on a plane and got such a lucky prize. Last month, a baby was born on a flight from Dubai to Manila. The air company celebrated the birth of the baby and gave her a present of one million miles free flight.

We watched a video about her work in India. I was so moved by her spirit to help others. After I graduated from high school, I wanted to try her kind of work, so I flew to Calcutta for a few weeks with two friends.”“I was asked to work in a home for sick people. I helped wash clothes and pass out lunch. I also fed the weak people and tried to cheer them up. I felt it was better to share (分享)with them than to think that I helped them. At that time, I realized that I hadn’t come to help, but to learn about and experience another culture that helped improve my own understanding of life.”
