hear from ... “收到……的信”
=receive a letter from ...
注: hear from后面只能接表示人的名
词或代词,不可接letter作为它的宾
语。 e.g. They will be delighted to ___________
you.
他们收到你的来信会很高兴的。 hear from【比较】hear from和receive都可表示“收到某人的信”。其区别如下:
hear from不是指具体接到信件, 而是指得到音信、信息; receive往往指收到具体的信件。

1) with + n. + doing (doing表示with后名词发生的动作, 此名词为动作的执行者)
e.g. He lay there with his eyes looking
at the sky.
他躺在那儿,眼睛望着天空。② with grass sticking out是“with + n. +
v-ing形式短语”构成的 with复合结构。2) with + n. + done (done和with后面的
宾语构成动宾关系, 此宾语是动作
的承受者。
e.g. The thief was brought in with
his hands tied back.
小偷被带进来了,双手绑在后面。3) with + n.+ to do动词不定式表示将发生、
未发生的事。
e.g. With much work to do, I can’t go
out with you now.
有很多工作要做,我现在不能和你
出去了。4) with + n. + prep. phrase
e.g. The teacher came in with some
textbooks under her arm.
老师进来了,胳膊下夹着一些书。
5) with + n. + adj.
e.g. When he is eating, he doesn’t speak

adjust
vt. & vi. 调整; 调节; 适应; 整理; 调准
e.g. The body can quickly adjust itself to

adjustable adj. 可调节的; 可调整的
e.g. These seat belts are adjustable.
这些安全带是可以调节的。adapt, adjust, fit, suit, match这几个词都含“适合、适应”的意思。
adapt “修改或改变以适应新条件”
e.g. You should adapt yourself to the new
environment.
你应该使自己适应新环境。  adapt, adjust, fit, suit, match2) adjust “调整、调节”使之适应。
e.g. You can’t see until you adjust the
telescope to fit your angle.

之后, 你才看得见。3) fit “大小适合”, 引伸为“吻合”。

4) suit “合乎要求、口味、性格、
情况”。

众口难调。5) match “大小、色调、形状、性质等相
配或相称”。
e.g. A red jacket doesn’t match green
trousers.
