The Little Mermaid
General information
For nearly 100 years, the heartbroken Little Mermaid has sat on a rock looking out over Copenhagen’s port.
The small bronze statue inspired by the tale of author Hans Christian Andersen and opened to the public in 1913, is a major tourist attraction in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark. But her life has not always been easy.

General information
The Statue of Liberty, completed in 1886, is located in New York Harbor. It was designed as a celebration gift of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the United States. It is a symbol of freedom and of the country. In 1984, the Statue of Liberty was included in the World Heritage ( 世界遗产) List.

the Leaning Tower of Pisa
General information
The Leaning Tower of Pisa was a work of art, performed in three stages over a period of about 174 years. In 1964, the government of Italy took action to stop the tower from leaning. The tower has been declared stable for at least another 300 year.
Galileo is said to have dropped two balls of different masses from the tower to prove that descending speed had nothing to do with their mass.
In 1987, the tower was declared as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site(世界遗产).

The?Great Wall of China?( a World Heritage Site( 世界遗产) since 1987) is a symbol of China. It is the world’s longest man-made structure. It is more than 2,000 years old. People did not build the Great Wall at once. It was built over many centuries by millions of people. Building the Great Wall was hard work. In 2007, the Great Wall was chosen as one of the Seven Wonders of the world.

The Sydney Opera House is considered to be one of the most well-known images of the modern world. It took the designer many years to solve the problem of how to build the roof. The building was finally completed in 1973 and was opened in the same year. On 28, June 2007, the Sydney Opera House became a UNESCO World Heritage Site(世界遗产).

General information
