The First Period

Step 1 Warming up and greeting
Daytime greeting to every student.
Step 2 Presentation
1.Show the picture of "yoghurt, disappear, gain, gram, majority, clinic, remote, concern" and ask students to describe them. Then write down the words on the board.
2.Ask students to answer the questions before reading.
(1)What is fashion?
(2)Why should teenagers be concerned about their "looks"?
(3)What should we do to live in a culture of fashion and advertisement?
Step 3 Reading
First reading: ask students to read the passage and find out the words that they don't know. Then teacher explains the words that they don't know.
Second reading: ask students to listen to the tape and read it again and think about the following questions:
(1)"No one really knows why some people get this disorder, but I think our lifestyle has something to do with it." What does Jenny mean?
(2)Why does the girl choose to take home used books rather than new clothes?
(3)What does this tell us about what is important to this girl?
Then ask students to answer the questions.
Step 4 Meaning through practice—"SECTION 2"
(1)Ask students to finish the questions in part A and part B, then check the answers.
(2)Let students listen to the tape and finish Part C.
(3)Ask students to do the speaking practice in part D with their desk mates. Then ask some of them to show their practices.
(4)Ask students to complete part E after class.
(5)Discuss part F in groups and learn the instant grammar.
Step 5 Summary
Ask a student to summarize the content we learned today.
Step 6 Homework
1.Listen to the radio.
2.Review the new words and sentences.
3.Read the text fluently.

The Second Period

正确应用a/ an进行英语表达。

在“学生为主体”的思想指导下,让学生成为课堂的主人,形成有效的“生生互动”,“和谐对话”,同时借助多媒体的优势使学生主动融入课堂教学情境之中,以调动学生积极性,激发学生参与课堂的潜能,建立良好的课堂氛围,真正发挥情感教学的优势。

熟练掌握使用a/ an时的不同情形及其具体应用。
【教学准备】
1.教师准备:多媒体课件、音响。
2.学生准备:课本及其他学习用品。
【教学过程】
Step 1 Warming up and greeting
Daytime greeting to every student.
Step 2 Presentation
1.Ask students to read the knowledge points in Part A of Section 3 and find out the points that they don't know.
2.Learn the use of "a/ an".
(1)Teacher combines the knowledge points to explain the knowledge points. Then ask students to put forward some questions to teacher and teacher answers.
(2)The teacher asked the students questions according to each knowledge point.
3.Ask students to complete self-test by completing the exercises "Your turn!", then check the answers.
Step 3. Group works
Divide students into six groups, and ask each group to complete the following requirements:
(1)List all the cases when the indefinite article is used.
(2)Find more exercises which are related to the indefinite article.
After that, ask one of the students in different groups to share their results and teacher emphasizes important points.
Step 4 Practice
Ask students to finish exercises in part B.
Step 5 Summary and Homework
Ask a student to summarize the grammar we learned today, and to finish other exercises about "a/ an".

The Third Period

Step 3 Reading for information
Read the article "What's in a Teen Magazine?" and answer the following questions.
(1)What do some of American teen magazines look like?
(2)Are these magazines similar to teen magazines that you read in China?
(3)Do you like magazines for teenagers?
Then ask students to answer the questions.
Step 4 Reading for information
Read the article "Why Do Advertisers Love Teenagers?" and answer the following questions.
(1)In the article, "Why Do Advertisers Love Teenagers" we are told why advertisers are so interested in teenagers. According to the article, why is this the case?
(2)As a teenager in China, what are the topics that are on your mind?
Then ask students to answer the questions.
Self-study the articles "Fashion! Beauty! Celebs!" and "How Important Is Fashion in Your Life?", then teacher explains the words that they don't know. Ask students to read the passage again and think about the following questions.
(1)Have you ever thought about the questions raised by D. I.?
(2)What do you think of the responses from the other girls?
Step 5 Wrap it up
Ask students to find from the readings words (nouns and adjectives) that belong in the following two groups.
(1)Fashion
(2)Beauty
Step 6 Summary
Ask a student to summarize the content we learned today.
Step 7 Homework
1.Listen to the radio.
