课标解读：本节课以贝蒂的口吻讲述了她在美国的家乡昆西小镇的生活，提高学生的阅读能力，并培养学生对家乡和生活的热爱。
教材分析：本单元注重对学生读写能力的培养，文章介绍的是贝蒂的家乡昆西（Quincy），这个美国东海岸的一个小镇，竟然产生了两位美国总统，而贝蒂的家就在这里。贝蒂借助对家里的事物和她的小朋友们的介绍又展示给我们一个不同的昆西。
学情分析：学生在上一课时已经初步学习了如何用含有was / were的一般过去式句型对自己小时候的生活做一些介绍。本课时是在学生已有的知识的基础上进一步操练和巩固一般过去式的句型，能够用be的过去式表述个人过去的生活。
