【教学目标】
At the end of the lesson,
Knowledge:
Students will get a general idea of the text as well as some specific information by finishing the exercises and tasks.
Students will learn some new words or phrases, such as stunt(s), sweep up, risk, big name, phenomenon, walking miracle, etc..And most of them will be able to use them correctly in oral tasks.
Strategies:
Students will improve their reading and listening abilities to a degree by skimming, scanning, inferring, guessing and doing listening exercises.
Students will enhance their speaking abilities to a degree by talking on a topic with opinions and supporting details.
Emotion:
Students will know something about stunts in movies and develop greater interest in movies.
Students will learn from Jackie Chan and pave the way for a successful life.
【学情分析】
授课对象为普通中学的高一学生,英语学习能力普遍较弱,普遍存在词汇量少,口语表达能力薄弱的问题,但他们基本上都有较强的表现欲,因此营造一种轻松愉悦的学习氛围很有必要,在教学的过程中更需注意循序渐进,有效地引导和启发,并及时地给予有效的评价和鼓励,让学生在体验、探索、尝试和进步中增强自信心;同时根据学生课堂掌握情况适当进行深层次的思辨和信息分析训练。其次,多数学生在英语学习策略上有所欠缺,尤其是读与听的信息处理能力弱,因此在教学的过程中需不断铺垫,有层次地提升学生的听力与阅读的技巧。
另一方面,基于母语学习以及之前教材中所出现的关于人物传记阅读的经验,班级学生对评价人物有了一定的感性认识,对评价的方式和相对比较熟悉,但从文本中提炼出人物品质的能力相对较弱,故处理人物描述段落时宜引导学生从事实中提炼出观点,为接下来的输出活动做准备。其次,绝大部分学生对议论文中观点的总结能力普遍较弱,故在教学过程中可用表格的形式引导学生条清缕析得整理出观点及支撑事实,促成之后的分角色讨论活动的顺利开展。

2.Play movie clips from Mission Impossible and Hurricane, and ask Students to describe what they’ve seen and how they feel.

Purposes:
To warm up and get to know the four stars in the text.
To arouse Ss’ interest in stunts in movies and lead the lesson into the reading part.
To clear the meaning of some new words.

2.Show Students pictures about “Stallone doing everything” and ask some questions about the trend of doing stunts.

2.Look at the pictures and answer the questions actively.
Purposes:
To improve Ss’ abilities to find out keywords and learn some new phrases.
To help Students get a general idea of the two paragraphs and prepare for the listening task.

1.Play the recording of paragraph C twice and ask Students to fill in the blanks.
2.Ask Students to check answers.
3.Ask some questions about “stunt professionals” and illustrate some phrases.

1.Listen carefully and fill in the blanks.
2.Check answers with partners’ first and then with the teacher’s.
3.Answer the questions and learn some new phrases.
Purposes:
To enhance Ss’ abilities to listen for details and help them learn cooperatively.
To help them get a definition of “stunt professionals” and understand the hardships for stunt professionals’ doing the job.

1.Ask Students to read the first two sentences of paragraph D find out the “title” of Jackie Chan.
2.Ask Students to skim paragraph D and find the supporting details about Jackie Chan as a “Hong Kong phenomenon” by answering questions.
3.Ask Students analyze the good qualities of Jackie Chan with the details found.
4.Ask Students to make a dialogue on “What made Jackie Chan a HK phenomenon”.

1.Read aloud the new words and the text at least three times, and underline the difficult phrases in the text.
