Have you ever watched a debate?

Do you know something about debates?
A debate is a form of argument. The topic changes from debate to debate. They are often about current issues. The one agrees with the topic is called the ‘pro’ side(正方) and the one that disagrees with the topic is called ‘con’ side反方. The ‘pro’ side will speak first in the debate. A chairperson introduces the speakers, a time-keeper keeps time, and an adjudicator(审判员)announces which team won -- and why.

1. What is the order of a debate?
One side present their points first.The other side follows and presents theirs. After that, there is often a discussion.
2. What is important in a debate?
Both sides representing opposite views present their points clearly. Each speaker’s speech is meant to convince you.
3.What should we pay attention to when we read or listen to a debate?
We should not make a final decision until we have read or listened to both sides completely and understood all of the arguments made by each side.
