Unit 3 Our Space

Period 1
【教学目标】
1.了解人类对宇宙所进行的探索,学习和掌握天文方面的一些词汇及知识。
2.能用所学的词汇等对航空航天探索进行描述和谈论天文知识。
3.复习名词性从句,弄清各名词从句性并能熟练运用。

The Moon is a satellite of the Earth.
The Sun, which is the center of the solar system, is really a star.
The Moon is much smaller than the Earth.
All of the light in the solar system comes from the Sun.
The nine planets orbit, or move around the Sun.
The nine planets are: Jupiter, Mars, Mercury, Neptune, Pluto, Saturn, Earth, Uranus and Venus.
One complete rotation of the Earth takes 24 hours.
Our Sun is big and bright—but many other stars are much, much bigger and brighter.

名词性从句的复习。
The fact that he passed the exam made us happy. (同位语从句)
That he passed the exam made us happy. (主语从句)
It is a fact that he passed the exam. (主语从句)
He learned that he had passed the exam. (宾语从句)
The fact is that he passed the exam. (表语从句)
【教学过程】
1.Reading
作为这一主题的引入,教师可以利用“神7”的图片,让学生回忆曾经学过的有关“宇宙”的词汇,又可引出一些新的词汇,课文中的新词可以在这个环节上初步让学生有所认识。
再此基础上,阅读并分析课文,使学生对的人类所进行的宇宙探索有更深刻、更全面的了解。

教师可围绕“太空探索”主题设计如下语言活动:
活动一:简述我国在航空航天方面所取得的成就。
活动二:太空专题讲座。介绍太阳、月亮、UFO、火星、日食等或自己编写的科幻故事。

4.Structures
名词性从句的复习是本课的语法教学的主要内容。教师可提供足够的例句让学生自主归纳名词性从句的知识点,并可通过选词填词、句子合并、翻译以及描述活动等进行巩固。

本部分内容与Unit 6课文内容直接相关,可作为辅助补充读材料,让学生课后自主学习。建议教师在学生自主学习之后指出一些重点词和词组让学生记忆:occur,block, cast, date, predict, depend on.

说明:设计“太空专题讲座”的教学,是给学生提供一个积极探索和展示的好机会。活动以小组合作的方式进行。这一教学环节既发挥学生的积极主动性,培养了探索精神和合作精神,又学习和巩固了所学的有关太空探索的词汇。
操作步骤和方法:
1.教师在课前布置任务,让每个小组去查找所需资料,并制成海报。
2.在展示学习成果前,教师可组织一个学生评委组,对小组展示进行评比。
3.小组在展示的过程中,教师要求学生在黑板上列出要点词汇。
4.之后,进行评比并宣布名次。
5.最后,教师可全班学生学习写在黑板上要点词语。

说明:
名词性从句包含多种从句,涉及很多句式,还涉及了虚拟语气,因此学习的难度大。建议教师花1个课时进行复习。同时建议教师在精讲这些法则之外,教师还得创设不同的语言活动,让学生在实际语言运用中学习和掌握这些从句。
操作步骤和方法:
I.教师提供大量,学生通过观察归纳出名词性从句的一般特征。
I can’t remember how much it cost.
What they were talking about was very professional.
It is suggested that the company should change its original project.
What he meant was that all the students should participate in the activity.
His reason for being late that the traffic was blocked seemed only an excuse.
The young man said he will never forget the day first met.
The problem that natural resources are being used up must be dealt with seriously.
My problem is that you should give up your plan at once.
1.在句子中起名词作用的句子叫名词性从句 (Noun Clauses)。名词性从句的功能相当于名词词组,它在复合句中能担任主语、宾语、表语、同位语、介词宾语等,因此根据它在句中不同的语法功能,名词性从句又可分别称为主语从句、宾语从句、表语从句和同位语从句。
2.引导名词性从句的连接词可分为三类:
连接词:that, whether, if 不充当从句的任何成分
连接代词:What, whatever, who, whoever, whom, whose, which.
连接副词:When, where, how, why
3.不可省略的连词:
(1)介词后的连词
(2)引导主语从句、同位语从句和表语从句的连词不可省略。
That she was chosen made us very happy.
We heard the news that our team had won.
4.whether与if的比较。只能用whether不能用if 引导的从句有:
主语从句、表语从句、介词后面宾语以及含有or not 的从句。
5.that引导的名词性从句
(1)在从属连词that引导的从句中 that只起连接主句和从句的作用,在从句中不担任任何成分,本身也没有词义。
(2)当that引导主语从句时,通常用it作先行词,而将that-从句置于句末,例如:
It is quite clear that the whole project is doomed to failure.很清楚,整个计划注定要失败。
It's a pity that you should have to leave.你非走不可真是件憾事。
小结:用it作形式主语的that-从句有以下四种不同的搭配关系:
a.It + be +形容词+ that-从句
It is necessary that… 有必要……
It is important that… 重要的是……
It is obvious that… 很明显……
b.It + be + -ed 分词+ that-从句
It is believed /thought/considered that…人们相信……
It is known to all that…从所周知……
It has been decided that…已决定……
It is ordered/suggested/required/ demanded that +主语+should 人们吩咐/建议/要求明显……
c.It + be +名词+ that-从句
It is common knowledge that… ……是常识
It is a surprise that…令人惊奇的是……
It is a fact that…事实是……
d.It +不及物动词+ that-分句
It appears/seems that…似乎……
It happens that…碰巧……
It occurred to me that…我突然想起……
6.Wh-词引导的名词性从句
(1)Wh-词可以引导主语从句、宾语从句、表语从句、同位语从句和形容词宾语。Wh-词包括who, whom,. whose, whoever, what, whatever, which, whichever等连接代词和where, when, how, why等连接副词。例如:
主语从句 How the book will sell depends on its author.
宾语从句:In one's own home one can do whatever one likes.
宾语从句:The club will give whoever wins a prize.
表语从句:My question is who will take over president of the Foundation.
同位语从句:I have no idea when he will return.
形容词宾语:I'm not sure why she refused their invitation.
宾语从句:That depends on where we shall go.
(2)Wh-词引导主语从句时,也常用先行词it做形式主语,而将wh-从句置于句末,例如:
It is not yet decided who will do that job.还没决定谁做这项工作。
It remains unknown when they are going to get married. 他们何时结婚依然不明。
II.句子合并结对练习。(完成Structures中的A部分练习)
III.选词填空练习。(完成Structures中的B部分练习)
IV.翻译练习。
教师还可以要求学生口头用名词性从句翻译句子,并进行点评。
