could 是 can 的过去式，意为“能；能够”，后加动词原形。否定形式为 could not，可缩写为couldn't。“Could you+动词原形（+其他）？”意为“你能……吗？”。肯定回答为：“Yes, I could.”；否定回答为“：No, I couldn't.”。
