What is Chinese opera? How much do you know about it?
Chinese opera is a traditional form of drama in China. It started in the Tang Dynasty when Emperor Xuanzong founded the ‘Pear Garden’(梨园).
Elements: dance, song, dialogue, swordplay and acrobatics(杂技).
The music instruments: gongs(锣), cymbals(铙钹), drums and stringed instruments(弦乐器).
Makeup, movements, props and colour costumes show a character’s age, gender and personality.
