1.From twelve o’clock at night to six o’clock in the morning.
◆短语from…to…的意思是“从
……到……”,可以表示时间,也可以表示地点。
I work from 9:00 a.m.to 5:00 p.m.我朝九晚五上班。
He walks from his home to his school every day.他每天从家步行到学校。
◆介词短语at night意思是“在夜晚,在晚上”。与in the morning,in the afternoon,in the evening等词组不同的是,night的前面没有冠词the,介词at表示“在”。还有in the night “在夜间”(与in the day “在白天”相对应),on the night of…在(某天)的晚上,on Sunday night在星期日晚上(在某一天的介词用on,不能说at)。
2.That’s a funny time for breakfast!
time与介词for搭配,for的后面接名词。意思是“做……的时间”。
It’s time for dinner.Go and wash your hands.吃饭了。去洗手吧。
We don’t have time for sports.我们没有时间开展体育活动。
Time for class.上课了。
3.…,so I’m never late for work.
be late for sth.的意思是“做……迟到”。
He is often late for school.他上学经常迟到。
