两者都可以，只是用法不同。
按照语法，季节，星期，月份，三餐之前不用冠词，因此，in spring意思是在春天；
当季节是特指时，要加定冠词the，就是修饰限制的作用。例如：in the spring of 2006.在2006年的春天。
例如：
I will go to beijing in spring.我要去北京。
这里没有指名是哪年的春季。
I will go to beijing in the spring.今年春季我将去北京。
