【小贴士】
1. Her elder sister is a nurse.
此处的elder是old 的比较级形式之一,另外一个形式为older,两者在使用上有区别,当用来表示某人比某人年纪大是多使用older,而当用来修饰哥哥/姐姐时则使用elder.
例:I have a brother. He is 3 years older than me. He is my elder brother.
2. She goes to work by train.她乘火车去上班。
英文中表示交通方式的常见方式可以使用by+交通工具,特别要注意的是在交通工具之前不能再加任何定冠词或修饰成分。
例:我爸爸骑车去上班。 My father goes to work by bike.
我经常乘公交车去上学。 I often go to school by bus.
另外一种常见的交通方式表达使用on/in +a/an/the/one’s +交通工具,这和by 方式最大的区别就在于必须在交通工具前加入定冠词成分。
例:我爸爸骑车去上班。 My father goes to work on a bike.
我经常乘公交车去上学。 I often go to school on a bus.
他妈妈经常开车去上班。(1)His mum often goes to work by car.
