The waiter puts a fork and two knives on the dinner table.
服务员把叉子和两把刀放在餐桌上。
妻子（wife）拿着小刀（knife）切水果。
复数形式：knives
cut off 切除
She decided to cut her hair off.
她决定剪掉头发。
cut up 切碎；切开 cut off 切除
blood [bl?d] n. 血
The little boy lost too much blood.
小男孩流了太多血了。
bloo（形似数字6100）+d（拼音：滴）→有6100滴“血”。
blood[bl?d] n. 血 bleed /bli?d/ v. 流血
mean [mi:n] v. (meant /ment/) 意思是; 打算; 意欲
The red light means “Stop”.
红灯意为“停止”。
固定搭配： mean to do sth. 打算做某事
mean doing sth. 意味着做某事
mean adj. 吝啬的；刻薄的 means n.方法；手段
get out of 离开；从……出来
I have to get out of my room and go to school.
我不得不离开我的房间去学校。
固定搭配： get on / get off the bus, train, plane, ship
get into / get out of the car, taxi
decision [d?'s??n] n. 决定; 抉择
It’s time to make your decision.
是你做出决定的时候了。
deci（看作decide，决定）+ sion（名词后缀，表示行为、状态）→决定
同根词：decide v. 决定
固定搭配：make one’s decision 做某人自己的决定
importance [?m'p?:(r)tns] n. 重要性; 重要
In this book, Mike tells the importance of making good decisions. 在这本书里，Mike讲述了做出正确决定的重要性。
import（看作important，重要的）+ance（名词后缀，表示性质）→ 重要性
important adj.重要的
the importance of ……的重要性
control [k?n'tr??l] n.&v. 限制; 约束; 管理
You cannot be in control of your homework if you don’t study hard in class. 如果你不在课上努力学习，你不可能掌控你的作业。
固定搭配：be in control of 管理，支配；
be out of control 失控
spirit ['sp?r?t ] n. 勇气; 意志
The spirit still exists.
精神永存。
孙悟空灵魂（spirit）出窍前，把毒药吐（spit）了出去。
固定搭配：in spirit 在内心
death [deθ] n. 死; 死亡
She was stoned to death.
她是被人用石块砸死的。
呼吸（breath /breθ/）停止就会死亡（death /deθ/）。
同根词：dead /ded/ adj.死的； die/da?/ v.死
give up 放弃
They refused to give up.
他们拒绝放弃。
give up “动词+副词”形式的短语动词，意为“放弃”，后接名词、代词或动词-ing形式，不可接不定代词做宾语。
nurse [n?:(r)s] n. 护士
My sister is a nurse.
我的姐姐是一名护士。
护士（nurse）拿着一个钱包（purse /p??s/）。
