The attack on Pearl Harbor
Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. I am very grateful that you have come here today. Today I am here to tell you something about the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor. Pearl Harbor is one of the major navy’s bases of the United States. On 26November 1941, a powerful fleet of 39 Japanese ships set sail for Hawaiian Islands. At around 8.10 a.m. on 27December, Japanese attacked the base. They destroyed many American ships and almost 200 airplanes and killed or wounded 3,000 American soldiers and sailors. The next day, the US President Franklin Roosevelt declared the war against Japan and the US entered the Second World War. After the war, a national memorial was built in memory of the Americans who died in the attack. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
