Infinitive as attributive
The Definition of Infinitive and the Basic Form
a. to do
b. to be done
c. to have done
d. to have been done
Actually, to do and to be done are put after noun. and pronoun . used as attributive.






First, the relation between the infinitive and the noun modified.
1. subject-predicate relationship
The noun modified is the logical subject of the infinitive.
We need someone to help with the work.
He’ll make some friends to play games.

2. verb-object combination
The noun modified is the logical object of the infinitive.
I have many letters to write.










3. associative-Relation
The infinitive refers to the noun modified.
We have made a plan to learn from Lei Feng.
4. adverbial relationship
The noun modified means the time and the way of the infinitive. And the most nouns are always abstract ones.
That's the way to do it. ?
I have no time to go there.
Then we’ll discuss something about when the noun modified is the logical object of the

infinitive, which is intransitive verb ,a proper preposition should be added after the infinitive .
? I am looking for a room to live in. I need a piece of paper to write on.
There is nothing to worry about.
Attention, when the infinitive is used as attribute with the modified noun “time”or “place”and “way”, the preposition should be left out.
He had no money and no place to live.

Now ,let’s discuss when modified noun of the infinitive is the object of the verb, the meaning of active pattern and passive pattern are quite different.
There is nothing to do. 无事可做。(有"无聊感")? There is nothing to be done.不能做什么了。(即"束手无策"了)?
There is nothing to see.没有东西值得看。?
There is nothing to be seen.什么东西也看不见。
