Play the song: What are you doing?.

Look at the pictures and learn the words of school facilities.

Learn Grammar
1. Discuss in groups. Try to find the rules of the “Present Continuous” and then memorize the usage of Present Continuous Tense.
动词 v.-ing的构成形式
1) 一般在动词原形末尾加-ing;
2) 以不发音的e结尾的动词,先去掉e,再加-ing;
3) 以重读闭音节结尾的动词,如果末尾只有一个辅音字母,应先双写这个字母,再加-ing。
现在进行时
1) 现在进行时表示说话时或现阶段正在进行的动作或存在的状态。
2) 现在进行时的结构:系动词be(am/is/are)+v-ing
e.g. We’re having an English class. 我们正在上英语课。
现在进行时的句式
1) 肯定句句式:主语+be(am/is/are)+v-ing+其他
e.g. Mary is playing soccer. 玛丽正在踢足球。
2) 否定句句式:主语+be+not+v-ing+其他
e.g. Tom isn’t sleeping now. 汤姆现在没有睡觉。
3) 一般疑问句句式:Be+主语+v-ing+其他?
e.g. —Is Tom sleeping now? —No, he isn’t.
4) 特殊疑问句句式:疑问词+be+主语+v-ing+其他?
e.g. —What is Tom doing? —He is sleeping.
现在进行时时间状语:常与now和at the moment连用。
e.g. Judy is singing now.

Learn some language points
1. Michael and Jane are talking on the phone. 迈克尔和简正在通过电话交谈。
1) on the phone意为“通过电话”,同义词组有:by telephone / over the telephone
e.g. Jerry and his friends are talking about their homework on the phone / by telephone / over the telephone. 杰瑞和他的朋友正通过电话谈论他们的作业。
2) on用作介词,意为“通过……方式,借助……(工具)”,其后常加媒体工具。
e.g. You can know the news on TV. 你能从电视上了解新闻。
扩展:on用作介词还有“关于”的意思,相当于about。
e.g. a book on / about history 一本关于历史的书
2. I’m making cards, but it’s boring. 我正在制作卡片,但是好无聊啊。
1) make card意为“制作卡片”,也可以写作make a card。
链接:play cards意为“打牌,玩扑克”。
e.g. The four men are playing cards in their free time.
这四个男人在他们空闲时间打扑克。
2) boring意为“令人无趣的,令人无聊的”,其主语或修饰对象多为事或物。
e.g. Watching TV at home is so boring, let’s play soccer outside!
在家看电视太无聊了,让我们到外面踢足球吧!
链接:bored意为“感到无聊的”,其主语为人。
e.g. It’s rainy today. I can’t play outside. I feel so bored.

Work on 1c
Role-play the conversation in 1a and then act them out.
Ask students to make up a new conversation with the following structures.

Do 4a. Divide the class into six groups. Every group reads one group of words. Discuss in groups and find the rules of sounds about er, ew, ey/eigh ,g, ge, gu/gue by themselves. Then one student in each group reads out the sound and teaches the sound to the whole class. Then the whole class listen to the tape recorder and check the sounds. Read the sounds and words aloud after the tape.
2. Do 4b. Try to read the words in 4b. Read aloud individually. Compare the sounds with colored letters. Discuss with their partners.
