The first one is about drinking. Now, you may not buy alcohol (酒)in this country if you are under 18 years of age,nor may your friends buy it for you.
Secondly, noise.Enjoy yourselves by all means, but please don't make unnecessary noise, particularly at night. We ask you to respect other people who may wish to be quiet.

My next point is about litter (throwing away waste material in a public place). It is an offence (违法行为)to drop litter in the street. When you have something to throw away, please put it in your pocket and take it home,or put it in a litter bin.
Finally,as regards something,it is against the law to buy cigarettes or tobacco (烟草)if you are under 16 years of age.

You can have someone to talk to.

You can meet a good friend.
Having a travel mate is a good way of meeting a new friend or even a lifelong partner. You can never count the number of couples who actually found their way into each other's heart while traveling together in another country.
You can have someone to watch out for you.
When you're in a foreign land, you'll never be really safe. You don't know the rules as well as the culture of the people.A travel mate will be perfect to remind you of your duties in the country and to watch your back just in case you get lost.So why don't you find a travel companion now?

The idea of having a car, a plane, a drone (无人飞机)parked outside your home may not be as unlikely as it seems.
We are going to have personal air vehicles that are both cars and planes. At least that's Missy Cummings's vision of the future. It's basically the intersection (交叉)of a drone with a robotic car, so your plane is also your car, but the quick development of technology is that you are actually driving neither.
Drones have a negative image in the media, says Cummings, because they are basically seen as spy cameras. But most people don't realize that when they are on a plane they are effectively travelling on a drone. The fly-by-wire technology that exists on all Airbuses and many Boeing crafts is the exactly same technology that exists on drones.
The reason why drones are the answer to the future is that we are terrible drivers.Humans have a half-second lag (延迟)in almost any quick response that they need to have.Even a half-second delay can mean the difference between life and death, and computers and automated (自动化的)systems don't have that.
So, our transportation network of the future, both on the ground and in the air, will actually be safer when we turn it over to computers.
There really aren't any technological difficulties to this idea. The biggest difficulties we have are psychological and cultural, in terms of giving up the car, but no new tech needs to be developed to have your own personal flying car. What we have to do is improve production and reduce manufacturing costs.
People should be excited about this:it promises much in terms of safer travel, and people in parts of the world where the road and air networks are poor will be able to get the goods and services.
1.Most people don't know that ________.
A.we needn't drive a flying car
B.drones are actually spy cameras
C.planes are much safer than flying cars
D.The technology on drones is used on planes
由第三段“But most people don't realize that when they are on a plane they are effectively travelling on a drone. The fly-by-wire technology that exists on all Airbuses and many Boeing crafts is the exactly same technology that exists on drones.”
2.According to the author, what makes drones the best choice in the future?
A.Their low costs. B.Their high speed.
C.Their quick response. D.Their modern comforts.
由第四段“Humans have a half-second lag (延迟)in almost any quick response that they need to have.Even a half-second delay can mean the difference between life and death, and computers and automated (自动化的)systems don't have that.”
3.The underlined word “that” in Paragraph 4 refers to ________.
A.the truth B.the difference
C.quick response D.a half-second delay
由第四段“Even a half-second delay can mean the difference between life and death, and computers and automated (自动化的)systems don't have that.”
4.What will most probably prevent the popularity of flying cars in the future?
A.Their being expensive.
B.Lacking advanced technology.
C.People's not accepting the idea.
D.People's failing to improve production.
由第六段“ The biggest difficulties we have are psychological and cultural, in terms of giving up the car”可知,在放弃汽车方面,我们最大的困难是来自心理和文化上的。
5.What's the best title of the passage?
A.Future Vehicles B.Future Flying Cars
C.An Answer to the Future D.Safer Travel

Travel is fun and exciting, but it's not if you get sick. You may think,“Not me, I won't get sick on my vacation.”But for many people, that is what happens.
A vacation is supposed to be a time for relaxing. But very often it is not.“What can I do when I am a tourist?”This is what we should often think about.Usually there are so many places to visit:museums, shops, parks and churches. You may spend most days walking around these places. This can be very tiring.Your feet may hurt. And you may have a terrible headache after a few hours. If this is what you feel, you should take a rest.Don't ask your body to do too much.A tired body means a weak body. And a weak body can make you get sick easily.Just sit down for a few hours in a nice spot.In good weather, look for a quiet park bench.Or you can rest at a café.You can learn a lot by watching people when you have a rest.
Sleep is also important. If you want to stay healthy you need enough sleep. You may have trouble sleeping at night when you travel.Your hotel room may be noisy, or the bed may be uncomfortable. If that is true, don't be afraid to change rooms or hotels. You may not get enough sleep for another reason. You may want to stay out late at night. In many cities the night life can be very exciting. Then you should plan to sleep for an hour during the day. That extra hour can make a big difference.
Finally, if you want to stay healthy, you must eat well. That means eating the right kinds of foods.Your body needs fresh fruit and vegetables, and some meat, milk or cheese. When you are in a new country you may want to try new foods but you need to be careful about how much you eat.Lots of rich food is not very good for you.

Quietly sitting there reading, I found myself suddenly listening to the train guard's announcements.Train travelers will surely agree that when the guard makes an announcement, whether it's the recorded message or the guard's message, few people listen to it, because it's often quite dull or hard to understand. This one was different.I noticed that other passengers appeared to be listening, too.Not only that, everyone was smiling!
Why was so much attention being paid to this message? As best I can recall, the guard said something along these lines, “Good Morning Ladies, Gentlemen and Children, this is the 7?35 a.m.from Penrith to Central and you'll be pleased to know that we are right on time. And what a lovely morning it is in Sydney today. The sun is shining, birds are singing, and all's right with the world.I trust you have a great day wherever you're going. Thanks for catching my train this morning and I hope to see you again soon.”
Quite a few people (obviously previous strangers)started talking to one another about the guard's excellent message and how good it had made everyone feel.I started thinking about this, and then I found the young guard and said “Were you the guard on the 7:35 a.m.from Penrith?” The guard seemed a bit stunned at first, replying,“Yes, yyyyes.” “Well, I really appreciate your announcement.Thank you for your extremely good message, which gave me and the other passengers such a good start to the day. Please keep doing it.” I said.
There are two messages for me in what happened that day.Firstly, when people are happy in their work it shows in what they do and say.Secondly, the story attaches much importance to the benefits that accumulate from thanking people for something they've done, particularly when it's not expected. Can you imagine the conversation that guard would have when he got home?

Many Americans buy an evergreen tree for Christmas. They put the tree in their home and hang small lights and colorful things on it.The evergreen is usually a pine or a fir tree (冷杉树).It remains green during the cold, dark months of winter in the northern part of the world. So it is a sign of everlasting life.
Early long ago, Romans probably planted evergreen trees during a celebration in honor of their god of agriculture. The Christmas tree may have developed from a popular play performed hundreds of years ago in what is now Germany.Traditionally, the play was on December 24th, the day before Christmas. The play was about the first people that God created—Adam and Eve.People put apples on an evergreen tree to represent the tree of knowledge in the Garden of Eden.
By the year 1600, some Germans began bringing evergreen trees into their homes. They put fruit, nuts and sweets on the trees. They gave the food to the family members and friends after the holiday season. Some people say the German religious reformer (宗教改革者)Martin Luther was the first person to add lighted candles to the tree. They say he did this to show how wonderful the stars had appeared as he travelled one night.

38.解析:选B 本段第一句“Volunteering is a great way to have fun with your family.” B项“Things to do with family members.”
39.解析:选D 本段第一句“Kids can come up with their own ways to raise money or provide needed services.” D项“Volunteering gives kids a sense of responsibility.”

Suddenly

答案:the

答案:went
答案:with
答案:will keep
句中应该使用时间状语从句,所以要填After/Before/When。
