【教学目标】
1.能用正确的升降调朗读疑问句。
2.能用正的语音语调朗读课文。
3.掌握核心词汇。
4.认读扩展词汇。
5.掌握冠词的基本用法。
6.掌握度量衡单位的表达方式。
7.掌握包括小数在内的数字的正确读法。
8.能描述五河和房间,包括地点,长度,宽度,高度,面积,重量和功能等。
【学情分析】
学生的学习能力较弱,自我学习能力不强,可以通过听录音磁带预习单词和课文的朗读,但是对于老师布置的预习任务--根据课文内容找出问题的答案这一项完成的情况很糟糕。
【教学重难点】
掌握冠词的基本用法;掌握 度量衡单位的表达方式;掌握包括小数在内的数字的正确读法;能描述五河和房间,包括地点,长度,宽度,高度,面积,重量和功能等。
【教学过程】
导入:
Tuning in:
a.How many continents are there in the world?
b.Where is Africa?
c.Egypt is in Africa, isn’t it?
d.What is it famous for?
e.Where are the pyramids?
(教师可以指着地图或地球仪向学生提问,然后让学生进行相互问答)
导入:Practice on the text
通过提问引出重点句型,使学生初步了解课文内容。
播放课文录音2遍,让学生完成书上Comprehension Check,核对答案后,请几位学生根据所完成的练习对the Great Pyramid 的概况进行描述。
再次播放录音,讲解课文的内容,也可让学生作解释,教师加以纠正和补充,并让学生自己找出一些课文中的重点词组。
熟读课文,模仿语音语调。让学生不看书来介绍一下the Great Pyramid。
可以介绍世界七大奇观,拓展知识面。

导入:
T: Have you ever heard about “seven ancient wonders of the world”? Can you tell me some of them? Just in Chinese.
T: I think you’ve got a good knowledge of them. Among all of these wonders, which one is the most famous? Let’s watch a video together.
T: Do you want to know more about the Great Pyramid? Here is an introduction to it. Take out your work sheet, read it quickly. Just one minute.
活动:写作前
T: I have a question. If we want to describe something, what shall we mainly talk about?
T: Let’s see how to describe objects in size. To warm up, let’s have a guessing game. Try to guess the size of an object. I’ll give you an example. This is my mobile phone. It is 13cm long. (板书 centimeter)
T: Can you guess how wide it is? What about your desk? How high is…? How much does he weigh?
练习:写作中
T: Let’s review what we learned just now. When we talk about sizes, we usually use some adjectives. For example, if we want to describe the height, we use…? What about length and width? But these adjectives are usually used in spoken English. What shall we use in written English? Read the second paragraph again and try to find out the answers.(板书)
T: Which sentence tells us the length? What does the first sentence tell us? What about the last sentence?
T: Let’s try to describe the size of two famous wonders. Firs read after me. Now complete the following sentences. You have two minutes to prepare for it.
T: You’ve done a good job. Let’s come back to the first paragraph. What does the first sentence tell us? The second sentence gives us a brief introduction to the Great Pyramid. Let’s make sentences like this. I gave you some information about our school. Try to write at least two sentences. I’ll give you one minute.
T: Well done. Look at the third paragraph, what else do we need to describe a wonder?
T: We should also write about its building time. Can you rewrite the sentence with spend? What about take? (板书)

T: Here are more details about Shanghai Tower and the Great Wall. Each group please choose one topic, then write a short passage about it. Try to use the word cues below. I’ll give you seven minutes. You can discuss with your group members first.
T: Let’s share some of your passages.
T: I’m so proud of you. If you want to make your passage better, you should add a beginning sentence or an ending sentence. Here are some useful phrases. Please take notes on your work sheet. You may use them later. In today’s class, we learned how to describe wonders.

T: After class, please read the passage on page, then polish you wrote in class. Tomorrow we’ll share some of your passages.
