Teaching procedure
Step 1
Show the picture of our own school and ask the following questions:
What’s this?
Is our school beautiful?
When was our school set up?
Is our school a key school?
Is there a special-grade teacher in our school?
Who is a senior teacher in our school?
Step 2
Learn the new words and expressions: set up/ key school/ multimedia/ special-grade teacher/ senior teacher
Step 3
Show our own class timetable and ask the following questions:
Which are required courses in our school?
Which are optional courses in our school?
Which optional course do you like to take?
When will you study chemistry?
Do you study Politics?
Do you like Fine Arts?
Do you want to take part in Mathematics Olympics?
Step 4
Learn some more new words and expressions: required course, optional course, chemistry, politics, Fine Arts, Mathematic Olympics
Step 5
Students look at the six pictures in the books and answer the questions below the pictures.
Work in groups of four.

Teaching procedure
Step 1
Revise the new words and expressions by asking the following questions:
Is Dongfang international school new school?
Is it one of the city’s key school?
What has it done in recent years?
How many classroom buildings are there in it?
Do you think the school has got a large library?
What are the major courses in the school?
What are the minor school in the school?
Step 2
Play the text recording twice and explain some difficult sentences and expressions according to the lesson notes and language focus in the TB.
Step 3
Students read the text loudly and then try to retell it by looking at the word cues.
Finish the Comprehension Check.
Step 4
Teach the language points:
set up/ be equipped with/ achieve/ education/ home and abroad/ consist of/ major/ minor
Step 5
Ask the students to guess the meaning of the new words.
Teacher explains some difficult points.

Teaching procedure
Step one:
Students read the dialogue first and then have a discussion to answer the questions
Step two:
Teacher give some explanation and make up more sentences with “as”
Step three:
Make sure that students have understood it.
Step four:
Finish some exercises in the workbooks.
Step five:
Teacher play the listening recording at least twice, students listen and finish the exercises
Step six:
Ask the students to finish reading in five minutes.
Guess the meaning of the new words.
Teacher explains some difficult points.
Finish the two tasks.
