后加可数名词单数，常用于比较级句型，表达最高级含义。可与“the other＋名词复数”或the others 互换。
eg: Peter is taller than any other student/the other students/the others in his class.
Language points:
在同一个范围内进行比较用“than any other+可数名词单数”；但如果不是在同一个范围内进行比较，则用“than any+ 可数名词单数”。
Mr.Li is taller than any student in his class.
李老师比他班上任何一个学生都高。
2.population/ p?pju'le??n/n. 人口；人口数量
population 是一个集合名词，作“人口，人口数”讲，作主语时谓语动词常用单数形式。
eg: The population is increasing at 5% per year.
人口正以每年5% 的速度增加。
population和people的区别。前者通常用what来提问，后者用how many 来提问。
当主语是“人口的百分之几、几分之几”时，
谓语动词常用复数形式。
注意：表示人口“多少”时，“多” 用large，“少”用small。

eg: They sat together to protect themselves from
the wind. 他们坐在一起，免受风吹。
Language points:
as far as I know (=so far as I know)，是一个固定表达，
as far as 远至；就……而言。
eg: As far as I know, he’ll be away for three months.
