一、教学目标
能够掌握新词汇:phone, leave, plane, why, hundred, hundreds of, look for, thousand, strange, boat, duck, pig

四、教学过程
Step I Warming-up
T lets Ss look at some pictures and review the dialogue in Unit 1.
2. Play a game: T collects some books from Ss and puts them together, then asks Ss to guess whose books they are.
3. T talks with Ss about their lost things and asks them where they found these things. Ss give different answers.
设计意图:通过小组角色扮演和游戏环节检查学生对第一单元对话的掌握情况;通过学生熟悉的日常话题导入新课,激发学生的学习兴趣。
Step Ⅱ Pre-reading
Activity 1
Learn new words.
1. T reads new words and expressions in this unit and asks Ss to repeat.
2. T ask Ss to look at the picture and answer the questions.
3. T asks Ss to finish Activity 1 on Page 4 and checks the answers.
设计意图:学习新词汇,为下面的阅读做铺垫。
Step Ⅲ While-reading
Activity 2
1. T asks Ss to read the passage for the first time on Page 4.
2. T tells Ss to work in groups and try to find out which of the sentences are true and then checks answers with the class.
3. T asks Ss to read the passage again to answer the questions.

(2) Why are there lost and found offices at airports and stations?
(3) What do people do at the lost and found office?
(4) What strange things are there at the New York City Lost and Found Office?
4. Look through the passage again and complete the table.

Cultural Background
Introduce the Lost and Found Office in London.
设计意图:通过对伦敦失物招领处的内容介绍,帮助学生了解相关文化背景知识、拓展他们的知识面。
Language Points
1. People often lose things when they’re travelling or when they’re in a hurry.
人们在旅行中或是匆匆忙忙时经常丢失东西。
in a hurry意为“匆匆忙忙”是固定短语,中间的冠词不可省略,常用作表语或状语。hurry此处用作名词,意为“匆忙”。
2. That’s why there are lost and found offices at airports and stations.
那就是机场和车站都有失物招领处的原因。
That’s why… 意为“那就是……的原因;那就是为什么……”,常用于句首,why后面跟的是结果。此处why引导表语从句。
3. Hundreds of people come here every day.
每天都有几百人到这里来。
hundred作数词,意为“百”,放在基数词后用单数;hundreds of意为“几百;成百上千”,后接可数名词复数。
设计意图:呈现本单元重要的语言点讲解,帮助学生掌握相关知识。
Activity 3
1. T asks Ss to read the words in the box in Activity 3.

Activity 4
1. T asks Ss to read the lost and found notes in Activity 4, then summarizes the format of lost and found notes.
2. T analyses the topic of this module and the writing ideas.
3. T creates a situation in which David lost his wallet, then asks Ss to write a lost note for him.
4. T creates a situation in which Bob found a mobile phone, then asks Ss to write a found note for him.
5. T asks Ss to work in pairs to exchange their passages and correct mistakes if any. When Ss work, T goes around the classroom offering help when needed.
6. T asks some Ss to present their passages to the class.
7. T comments their passages and gives advice on how to write lost and found notes well.
