One possible version:
Dear John,
Knowing that you are returning to your homeland, I am reluctant to say goodbye to you.
As for the gift, after careful consideration, I recommend you the Chinese knot. Made of red
threads, it always represents happiness, luck and unity, though in different shapes. It is a tradition for
Chinese to hang it in houses as a decoration. It is usually given as a precious gift to close friends. I
think it can convey your best wishes to your friend.

一、评分原则:
1.本题总分为 15 分,按五个档次进行评分。

3.评分时,先根据作答的整体情况初步确定其所属档次,然后以该档次的要求来综合衡量,
确定或调整档次,最后给分。
4.评分时还应注意:
(1)词数少于 60 或多于 100 的,酌情扣分。
(2)单词拼写和标点符号是写作规范的重要方面,评分时应视其对交际的影响程度予以考
虑。英、美拼写及词汇用法均可接受。

Paragraph 1:
Sylvie gave a long sigh. She knew the wild bird's secret now. Slowly she began her dangerous
trip down the ancient pine tree. She did not dare to look down and tried to forget that her fingers hurt
and her feet were bleeding. All she wanted to think about was what the stranger would say to her
when she told him where to find the heron's nest.
Paragraph 2:
About an hour later Sylvie returned. Both her grandmother and the young man stood up as she
came into the kitchen. The fine moment to speak about her secret had come. But Sylvie was silent.
She could not tell the heron's secret and give its life away. The young man went away disappointed
later that day. Sylvie was sad. She wanted to be his friend. He never returned. But many nights
Sylvie heard the sound of his whistle as she came home with her grandmother's cow.

——自然有效地使用了段落间、语句间衔接手段,全文结构清晰,前后呼应,意义连贯。
第六档(18—21 分)
——创造了比较丰富、合理的内容,比较有逻辑性,续写比较完整,与原文情境融洽度较高;
——使用了比较多样且恰当的词汇和语法结构,表达比较流畅,有个别错误,但不影响理解;
——比较有效地使用了语句间衔接手段,全文结构比较清晰,意义比较连贯。
第五档(15—17 分)
——创造了基本合理的内容,有一定的逻辑性,续写基本完整,与原文情境相关;
——使用了比较恰当的词汇和语法结构,表达方式不够多样性,表达有些许错误,但基本不
影响理解;
——使用了语句间衔接手段,全文结构比较清晰,意义比较连贯。
第四档(11—14 分)

M:Have you ever forgotten an appointment at the doctors or been late in getting to your part-time
job? Occasionally, these difficulties happen to everybody. However, you can avoid such
problems if you write out schedules. They will help you to find out how much time you have to
do the things that are important as well as those that are fun. A master schedule can be used to
find out how much time you really have for activities. This schedule lists all of the activities
that you must complete. A weekly schedule can also be used to help you plan time for the things
that you really like to do. Your weekly schedule should include time for activities. It also should
include activities that will help you to achieve lifetime, long-term and short-term goals. Finally
it should include your study time and free time. Free time is necessary so that you can make
needed changes in your schedule. A daily schedule is a final suggestion to help you plan your
time.
